I have 255/80-17s on 17x7.5 +15 offset with a 1" spacer and I don't rub anywhere, but I haven't wheeled hard with them yet. However, I had to trim some plastic and pound the pinch weld to accommodate 285/75-16s.

    I'm a 1st gen though.

I ran a set of D-rated 285/75-16 Guard Dogs up until about 2 weeks ago. No issues, no complaints. Performed well on snow runs. Have about 16-17k miles on them. Tread depth is around 12/32. Was 19/32 new.

Thought about getting the Warden in same size, but decided to go 255/80-17.

Two-wheel drive, slicks and extremely skinny tires. Fun video. I once saw this video cut with other modern 4x4's in similar conditions and failing (have never been able to find it since).

Just installed yesterday. 255/85r16 dick cepek extreme country on stock wheels and stock off road suspension. The very tiniest bit of touching on the front mud flaps when turned but I just removed them instead of trimming. Might get around to trimming and reinstalling in the future.

I had Guard Dogs and I liked them, at first. They were grippy (had the kedge grip), cleaned out well, and took some decent abuse. They were stupid cheap so that's why I went to them as my firs offroad tire. Eventually one buldged out on the side wall, (only like 30k on them) and treadwright barely did shit for me. After that I was done. Also they were STUPID loud.

Just put on 255/75r17 AT3 4Ss today. Stock suspension and Sport rims and no rubbing that I can find, around town anyway. No noticeable noise change either. Its not quite as drastic of a change from the 265/65r17s as I had pictured, but I really like the look in the wheelwells. I've read all the skinny threads and PM'd quite a few guys, thanks for all the info!20180828_120204.jpg

Joining the skinny tire club. 255/85/16 Toyo Open Country MT. They're surprisingly quiet but damn they're heavy. The ride was a little swirly on the highway at first, but increasing the PSI took care of that. I had 265/75/16 Cooper ST Maxx before.

@mdbutler7 I have a 2017 - TRD OR that is essentially stock. I put the 255/85R16 Toyo Open Country MTs on my truck. I just got back from a 3000 mile trip with the tires on up to Missouri. I averaged around 18MPG according to the truck. Whats funny is I got worse mileage in Texas on the highways at 70-75MPH than I did through most of Oklahoma, Arkansas and Missouri. In general I have noticed about a 2 MPG loss so far. This is reported though, and I have not had the truck adjusted to the new tire size. So, it is considering the extra work it is doing with the heavy tires while not considering the extra miles traveled by the tire. I would wager (based on my fill ups being about the same) that the difference in mileage is closer to 1 MPG.

@mdbutler7 That was sort of my thought, if they are similar MPG, why not the larger one. I have a theory that the 265/75R16 C's would do better if you do a lot of higher speed highway driving. The truck sets around 16 range when driving at 70+ Though, I was at around 17-18 with the stock tires at that speed. So still not that huge of a loss since my total tank average is still around 18. I would imagine also that the Coopers would do a bit better on the highway than the Toyo's just because of the nature of the Hybrid tire vs the MT tire.

I love them in this size. The height increase is noticeable too. I know stock is a 30" tire loaded they measured in closer to 29" for my truck and these Toyos measure nearly 33" loaded. That is a 2" ride height increase.

Haven't had mine on long enough to really get a good idea, I'm only a bit over half way through my first tank since the 255/85r16 dcecs were put on. So far it seems to have settled to about 16 mpg which is about 2 less than before, but I'm in the same boat as @Wesintex as far as not adjusting for the extra distance with larger tires. With the stock Goodyears I was usually at about 18 during the week since I don't do much highway driving other than weekends.
