Not my tacoma, my wife's subaru but still a tire. She was putting directions into waze and clipped a curbed, scuffed up her rim and took a chunk out of her tire. I'm wondering if it's safe to drive on anymore or if we need to replace it. Wouldn't be a big deal except the tires have about 30,000 on them and only have about 5/32's left on them. Because of subaru's all wheel drive we'd need to replace all 4, can't replace just one. Thoughts?

My dealership policy would be replace it but i see lots of tires like that where people have glued the flap back into place. If you do not replace it at least put that tire in the back so if it blows out it wont effect your steering control nearly as much.
If it were my subaru(AWD) i would rotate it to the back wheel and glue the flap back in place but know that I will need new tires soon. Also make sure the spares inflated for if/when it blows out.

I think I'd be more concerned with the sidewall bulge

It's not an emergency, I would avoid major pot holes and cornering on that tire at higher speeds. Just start making plans to replace them as winter is approaching.

I didn’t even notice that bulge but just went and looked and it’s definitely big. That answers my question, will be replacing them now instead of next year. Hope this will be a good lesson for the wife.

I'd replace it. That looks like a bulge from the impact of the hit. The tire has been compromised by a tear inside. That's a blowout waiting to happen.

Thanks for the suggestions but I think I’m going to go with Michelin ltx from bj’s, I can get all 4 mounted for about $650

Don't remember the price but I put Michelin Premiers on my wife's Subie. Great tires, very quiet and good wet weather handling.

And I'd go ahead and replace. I would rotate to the rear in the mean time but I'd look for an appropriate time to do it.

Good decision to replace. I always error on the side of not messing around with any tire issues, but especially sidewall issues. Also, I had the Michelin LTX AT2 on my second gen and that was the most well balanced tire I ever had. The wet traction was fantastic and they were also surprisingly OK for light trail riding and would work well on a Subie.
