    Deep.

If he’s in the right lane going 55 I don’t see a problem with that. There’s a lot worse...distracted driving, texting teens.

Couldn't agree more. If it's a 4 lane or more hwy, drive as slow as you like (within reason). People can pass. In my experience peoole who haul ass tend to stop more often anyway. I'll see the same car zoom by me 5X. Most 2 lane highways are 50 mph anyway.

55mph is too slow and possibly dangerous IMO. You can drive 65mph comfortably and still get good MPGs. My Truck is a 6MT and I drive 65mph and long flat stretches of highway and still get 21-22mpg despite the higher RPMs.

17000 miles here. 21-24 average. I would think on a full tank of gas highway trip. I would get 25.

This. I see people who are constantly passing and zooming through lanes in heavy traffic causing everyone else to get screwed over.. meanwhile it only saves them a few minutes of time if that.

Safety aside, gas is cheap. I’d rather get where I’m going in a reasonable amount of time than squeeze an extra 3mpg out of my truck. If you care that much, sell your truck, buy a car.

If it says 55mph, he’s in the right. Besides, if he’s in the right lane with the trucks doing the same (at least in California where 55mph is the legal max anywhere required for them) there’s no problem. But I’d at least do the posted semi truck limit wherever one is - making them slow down for you is not a good idea.

Now as for carpool lanes, I tend to stay out of them when possible for the jerks that get mad and have road rage if you are not going 20mph over the posted speed limit for them.

Driving habits and driving environments will always equal MPG. No two drivers are the same. Some think they do mostly freeway miles but in reality, they don't. For example, if your commute is 20 miles with 15 miles of freeway driving and 5 miles of city driving, some would think it's a 67/33 split. But if it takes you 20 minutes on the freeway, and 15-20 minutes for the city driving, it's really more of a 50/50 split. It's not a matter of the type of miles you drive, but rather the time spent driving those miles.

Agreed. I find that it's within .2 to .5 accurate so far. Stock of course with no suspension mods.

Drove a 130 mile trip today with an OR 4x4 and E loaf range tires. I took county roads with no lights and did about 60-65 mph and averaged 21.3 MPG. I won’t lie I babied the shit out of it to see how well I could do. If I had factory tires it would’ve been around 24 I’d bet.

55 is our posted speed limit in the metro area, as well as all of our county roads.

60-65 is posted in areas where there is more longer distances between off ramps.

I am never in a hurry, and have no desire, or need to drive over 55. Because of that, I don't frequent the areas posted 60-65, rather I just take a secondary, or a more scenic backroad, again I not in any rush to get anywhere.

For those saying its dangerous to drive 55 while being passed by folks clearing 30mph over and weaving in and out because they are impatient, late, or just like to drive fast is just silly justification. (I'm not pointing at you Specter)

If its posted 60-65, by all means drive 60-65, but don't get butt hurt when others choose to actually drive 65, and you feel that's now too slow, and 85 is a better idea.

    I'm happy with millage too.

Did not go below 20 in my daily commuter in the worst traffic. Here is my "fake" notes.

I wish I could find it but a guy did a write up on Reddit about how even slightly speeding and getting out of best mileage range really adds up and proves speeding to get there really doesn’t help.

I get close to 30 when I'm doing longer commutes in the morning. I just make sure to keep it right at or below 2k rpm doing like 65/70 and the bar stays maxed the entire time. My average daily commute nets me around 23mpg per tank though. My first tank of gas when I first got the truck was 28.7mpg because I was commuting to work at like 4am and home at noon so I had no traffic lol

My daughter is experiencing this phenomenon right now. She has a 2001 Nissan Pathfinder and the person bought it from (my old boss) would consistantly average 17mpg with it. My daughter would get closer to 15 for own average.

Well, my daughter got a new job about 40-50 mins away from home. Her average dropped to below 12mpg and she was ready to sell it to get a Mazda 3 for the fuel economy.

After I cleared her thought process in that buying a newer car that gets better fuel economy over keeping her nearly paid off vehicle would most likely cost her more per month to own and operate in reality.

So, she has three things to look at to see what caused the drastic drop in mpg's. *Check to make sure tires are properly inflated.
    *Check driving habits.
*Check if something is wrong with the car.

    Tires were fine.
Told her to excellarate slower and smoothly from lights. Don't hammer down the freeway over 55mph, and to keep the skinny pedal stable. Don't drive On/Off, On/Off, On/Off, rather keep it steady and hold your speed. Also, plan your day better so you are not in such a rush.

Well, we found the problem. It was her foot and speed all along. After these changes, and six fill ups later, her mpgs have gone from original 11.8mpg to mid 17's. Her last fill up yesterday averaged 18mpg. These are all using the same route, fuel station, and calculations.

She no longer feels the need to get a different car, as she really does love the Pathy.

She also said her stress level has dropped now that she is no longer in a hurry.

    Go figure?

Break-in made a big difference for me, I think. Maybe I was heavier footed with the new truck? But whatever the cause, I was stuck at 16-17 mpg (all city) up until I had about 15K on it. Finally took a road trip...about 24 total hrs over 4 days, cruise set at 70-75. I started getting about 19/20 mpg city after that trip. Could break-in explain this?

I get 50 mpg on unicorn farts. It's a truck, not a prius. I only get 6 mpg when the wind is blowing above 4 mph. Use 95 octane and you'll get 29 mpg minimum. Shit, my tandem Ferd 250 V10 gets 35 mpg on the highway pulling a full cattle trailer.

OK, think I've covered all the TW cliches. Carry on.
