"Represents urban driving, in which a vehicle is started with the engine cold and driven in stop-and-go rush hour traffic."
So it's ment to replicate rush hour traffic. But doesn't account for hills. Extended stops at stop lights. Aggressive acceleration for merging. Hills. Ect. Too many variables to have an accurate test that covers everyone

true mileage is when you fill all the way up the neck till you can't get anymore in....drive 15 miles and do it again.....one click shut off do not necessarily mean you have a constant fill for checking mileage...JMHO

One click is a "close enough" method for these calculations. Unless you want to pull the tank, weigh it empty and full and do it right.

Really ??????...........i thought "close enough " was for hand grenades and horseshoes.......with the "one click" method there is just no way to know how much fuel was put into the tank....flow rates always differ....if you fill the tank completely each time you know the tank is full....then you calculations are much more reliable

It has nothing to do with rate of flow and everything to do with volume. The reason that one click is sufficient is averages over time.
The biggest fallacy most everyone makes is averaging over a short duration of time, like 400 miles or something. What people SHOULD do is look at a much longer duration, like 5000 miles or 20000 miles. Say you faithfully use the one click method... this time, there might be a half gallon extra, next time it might be a half gallon less. If I average it out over 50 tankfuls, it all works out and the error gets smaller and smaller. That's the proper way.
Worst way ever is look at 100 miles or a single tank. Not enough data for a proper evaluation.
With that said, my overall average since December is 18.03 mpg over 17K miles. I fully expect it to rise to around 20 mpg as we approach the changeover to winter gas in late October. Then it will level out or start to decrease, as winter mileage is always worse than summer.

If I am wanting to check mine I just use the same station and same pump, close enough for me.

Totaled but still alive! Frame 2.0, Fog lights anytime, Seatbelt reminder delete, Secondary air filter delete, LED bed lights, Running boards, 2017 Rims, Ultra gauge, Cup holder/consol/glove compartment lights, Interior LED conversion, Blue Sea aux. fuse panel, fuse panel mounting plate by Yotamac, ProEFX heated towing mirrors, LED engine bay lights, Redline Quicklift Elite hood struts, Wet Okole Heated Seat Covers,m, Rear bumper 2.0, Decal free visors, Washable cabin air filter, Overhead consol auto dimming override switch, BulletProof Fabricating Skid plate, 2lo module.
Mileage has more to do with behavior than set-up. Certain mods will negatively impact MPG. Just checked mine (2nd gen) on Fri. 18.6MPG I always run pure gasoline, no ethanol. Two weeks before I got 16.5 driving a little harder.

Which is why longer duration averages are better.

I am ovtuned, but I got 23mpg while my truck was stock. I am now lifted with armor, winch, sliders and bigger tires and get 18-20 commuting to work. I get about 360-400 miles to a tank now (2016 TRD off-road short bed)
