I was thinking of this the other day while watching My Cousin Vinny. I thought this would be a fun thread to hear from others on this subject.

"My cousin Vinny" Some of it was filmed in GA(maybe all of it). Remember the Sack o suds that gets robbed in the begining of the movie. That store is located by the dam at Jackson lake. It stayed in business for many years afterwards, but I think it has closed now. It was a dumpy store.

Also "Smokey & the Bandit" was filmed in Jonesboro,GA & surrounding areas. I watched that movie with my Son & pointed out places that were around us. Then I took him on a movie tour & showed him most of the places. Like the bridge they jumped, Texarkana where they get the Coors, etc...When Smokey & the Bandit was being made. I remember my Mom coming home and telling us about a police chase she witnessed(not knowing it was a movie).

I recognized a part of Road Trip. Where they go to Austin & are running down a hill. To get a package, before one of the dudes girlfriend sees it.
That was filmed here on the Emory University campus (where I work).

Also what I meant was more than doing a google search on what has been filmed in your area. But if you saw them making the film, were in it, or was watching the film & noticed your towns in the movie.

Part of "Dazed and Confused" was filmed where I live.

The Top Notch burger joint in the movie is located about 1 mile from my apartment. There are other locations around Austin that are in the movie, but I haven't researched them yet.

Parts of The Creature from the Black Lagoon were filmed on the banks of the St Johns river.

The majority of The Program was filmed in Columbia, and for those of you who have seen it probably recall the scene where the guy lies down on the double yellow lines in the middle of traffic...that scene was filmed directly outside of my dad's old office. He could look out his window and see that section of road
