So I'm driving along minding my own business when I literally touch my mirror to adjust it when this happens. I went to Lowe's and bought some quick setting epoxy and glued it back on .

I'm sure somebody is going to say I fucked something up .I can tell you that it snugged up well BEFORE it engaged fully, and I thought it was good (not need set she) Evidently it was binding on the glass and bumps caused it to break.

I have NEVER moved at the base, all adjustments were made at the mirror. Needless to say I'm a little pissed.

I won't be reinstalling it .I'll be putting in a separate base. Looks like my concern was founded .Fuck!

That was a fear of mine when I installed ImMrYo's bracket so many years ago but it's been fine for me.

Mostly stock with a few minor mods.
That is strange. I don't think I've seen glass chunk out like that before. A mirror just popped off a work vehicle last week but it was the adhesive. It didn't take any glass with it when it went.

I've had that with just the stock mirror, doesn't matter. If the glass is going to fail, its going to fail..

Bummer. I have glass coverage through insurance so the replacement is no cost.

Same happened to me. Glass shop glued the piece in and i double sided taped the top side of the mirror riser. Working great for 8 plus years.

I’ve heard of this complaint multiple times with this riser.

I wonder whats contributing to it.
How do you take your previous mirror off before putting the new on on?
Wonder if getting the old one off is initially hurting the integrity of the glass??

A few mods here and there and counting....
I run the bird dawg riser and I have a few tips. Use some 3m mounting tape at the top of the riser so the weight is dispersed evenly. Don't overtighten the screw to the base, just snug it. Make your mirror adjustments specifically the arm off the riser and then install.

I wanted to use the tape BUT there wasn't enough clearance to use tape and slide on during install.

Anyone want to buy a riser. $20 shipped CONUS. :D
Look at it as a contribution to replacing my windshield.... Eventually .

So far the mount is holding. In the heat etc we shall see. I'm just using the Lowes 1 min epoxy. Stinks but it works. LOL I'll drive with the windows open for a while.
