and it is alot easier than it seems. just make sure you do bend the pins far enough to solder underneath the screen. As long as you take your time and have patience it will come out lookin bad ass!

Nice! I'm going the opposite. White screen, blue knobs, cd slot and 1-6, white everything else.

PROBLEM!!! Alright, so I did this mod a few months ago with great success and now today driving home, my speedo needle light just decided to go out on me. I have had my cluster apart and have been trying to fix it every way I know how, but to no avail (took it out at 5, it is now 9:30). Anyone have any suggestions as to what may be wrong and how to possibly fix it?

1 - resolder the connections on each end. (one might have become loose)
2 - replace the LEDs (one might have been damaged, then the whole string will go out as they are in series)
3 - some resistor is jacked in your cluster...

use a multimeter and check that your getting voltage across the loop. also check the resistance between each LED...

^ since you replaced them...is the polarity correct on all of them now?

Yeah my polarity is on... So I had an idea. When I did this the first time for some reason I couldn't get blue LEDs to light for the ODO, so I put in white and they worked. So I pulled out my white ones just now and put them in. Shebang, worked first try. So I have had the exact same problem twice now where the blue won't light but the white will. So my needle lights up, but looks much better blue. You got any ideas because I know I'm sure stumped haha.

Holy chit, I've done a lot already!!
In '06 there were two incandescant bulbs in the HVAC controls, no LED's. Very finicky about lighting and staying lit too. Sometimes a "light" tap on the dash will solve that problem.

well, the circuit gets a specific amount of voltage...dont remember the difference between the resistance of the white vs blue needles...this is why i said test w/ a multimeter...you could be getting too much resistance w/ the blue LEDs, therefore it wont complete the circuit? but that would be really wierd as i've done a ton of blue needles and never had any problems...adn your needles worked before? this is why im leaning towards some orhter component fried on your board.

Sounds like the blues either over-draw or have too much resistance. PreRunnerSeth might have a better idea of what is going on. Could also be one bad blue LED in the pack that is screwing with you. I would just pitch out the offending LEDs and buy another 3 for $1.50.

I had left over from when I initially did the switch some new blue ones. I put in all new ones and still... So I dunno what the deal is. I just needed something to hold me over as I have a meet this weekend. But I definitely wanna figure this out so I can get back to blue.

Done! Awesome mod, not bad at all. Anyone who has soldered before can do this one. If you aren't confident do what I did and play around putting on and taking off the TMPS LED since, like the door buzzer, you might as well remove that PITA as long as you are there so who cares if you mess it up.

Starting to remove my HU to do the swap in that.

Completed both the radio and cluster with no problems. Also figured out how to get the climate controlls blue. Now I jsut have to get some LEDs to swap the remaining odds and ends.
