can acetone really increase your gas mileage? according to this guy with a bunch of videos on how to make and do crap, adding 2 ounces of PURE acetone to your gas tank will aid the gas and therefore increase gas mileage.

this is a repost, air pressure is good to keep spec but the acetone stuff hasnt really been proven

Since it's a solvent it might clean deposits out. Though it might damage your seals and hoses. So, I think plausible. Probably not wise though.

I just call the DoT and tell them to adjust the sensitivity of the loop. There was one outside my apartment complex...called every day for a week and then never had an issue with that light again.

The idea is sound tho...

 

would revving your engine would the mechanics and stuffs create a more magnetizdd... i cant think but you get the idea..

 

I don't think so- It's more about how much metal is present in the bike than electrical signals made by the bike.

Mine is a sport bike with limited metal. Big cruisers with lots of chrome and stuff tend to not have that problem.

on the loop and signal , its true . I ride an aluminum bike to work sometimes and it wont trigger the signal. I do a "swoop" with one pedal low , since its steel it triggers the loops. Just remember , not all signals are loop , some are motion sensing , some are on a cycle and cant change.

Acetone now , hmm. I have access to lots of it. I want to know its safe first. Consider this ..... if it was true , then how come no one is selling "shots" of it like S.T.P. or chevron and such. My bet is till go the way of cow magnets in the 80s and slik 50 in the 90s

I saw that episode of Mythbusters too. I don't care what they say, I've been putting 2 ounces of technical acetone in every tank full of gas for about 1 year now and it absolutely works! Every now and then, I leave the acetone out just to reverify. Every time I'm pleased. Acetone atomizes things better (we use it at work to thin out aircraft sealants) so it stretches your gas farther. I get a 10-20% improvement, depending on where I have to drive. It costs about $11 at Wal-Mart for a gallon can. I did the math, and it's like getting a free tank full of gas out of every can of acetone you buy. Seriously, it works!

 

So that's why the harley guys constantly rev their bikes at stoplights!!

 

I don't know about thT but they should tie one of those damn magnets to the back of their bike to catch all the shit that shakes and rattles off them, you know -- all the shiny fasteners and accessories

I don't know about the compatibility of acetone with the fuel delivery system. To be 100% sure you would have to get info on all the materials used one any part that comes into contact with the fuel. According to the above link acetone is not compatible with several oring materials listed (#1 = poor).

Keep in mind that the detrimental effects wont happen over night. WhTs more is that a failure may = fire = catastrophic failure = possible death

 

BTW bunaN is a very common oring which is very resistant to many chemicals = used frequently in all types of application. As per guide it's a #1 = poor compatibilty

 

I would say that if putting acetone in your tank would increase your gas miliage...........That the govt would have gotten a hold of this guy a loooong time ago and shut him up for good.
