Tie Rod ends, best brands?

So I found out I need some tie rod ends. The inner part but I figure I might as well change both inner and outer. OEM is out of the question, $100+ for a tiny part good lord.

What brands have you all tried that are good?
Looking at TRQ, AC Delco so far.

Also... how much flex do these things have? I didn't even think about it with my 3" lift.

I have used Detroit axle many times and their stuff is good.

60 bucks for all tie rods

 

Gates or OEM (in my opinion).

Some parts I just like to stay OEM.

But if i cant afford it I go with Gates. Rock Auto should have em

I've got moog replacement tie rod ends an LCAs and I've got nothing but praise for them.

The boots I've got are really solid so far. I've got about 5k on em but no extreme offroading so. Time will tell I guess.

Ok so Detroit axle is good, Moog may be hit or miss? I've read that... worries me.

Just came across this thread using search, I got lucky it's just from last week.

I replaced my inner and outer tie rods with Moog about a year / 12k miles ago. Got new tires this weekend, and took it in to get aligned, and the shop told me that the passenger side had play. I told him, that can't be right, they are brand new! He led me back into the shop and showed me, sure enough, there is play. Now I'm looking for a part to replace it with.

 

What grease did you use on the outer tie rod ends? I'm assuming they had zerks, as all the Moog steering stuff I've used had grease fittings...and did a crappy job of sealing the rubber boots to retain said grease.

My experience has been that Moog parts last well if they're greased frequently, like every 5K mile oil change. This includes ball joints, tie rod ends, and swaybar end links. I've had good results from thicker greases: Lucas Xtra Heavy green, and RedLine. These stay inside well enough to keep the rubber boot "inflated" reasonably well, where thinner greases are gone more quickly.

Best inner tie rods I have used. They are much stronger than oem. As far as longevity I can't speak on that. I only have a thousand miles on them or so but I feel like they will last as long as oem.

It was the inner that had play. But that is a good point, I'll have to remember to grease the outers, too.

 

So... The ones I ordered from Amazon are here... Made in China.. eh. Now I'm debating just ordering OEM. But good lord 100 bucks just for a single inner ?

Any other suggestion? I saw the 505 but people seem to be debating the quality.

 

Does Ruff Stuff @Dan Fredrickson have anything? I have not researched. Just wondering.

 

We've got Toyota FJ80 land cruiser TREs, the go-to for toyota solid axle steering, unless using heims, which we surely also have many to choose from.

As excited as I am to carry all these quality products to use any would require pretty heavy amount of modification to work on a OEM, IFS Tacoma (Which if you're interested in let's talk).

But If you are looking for something that will work out of the gate, and don't want to pay OEM prices, just rockauto it. really any brand is fine, it's generally a matter of how long they last. In my experience it really is a 'get what you pay for' deal; buy the cheapest one's and they're going to wear out/tear boot the soonest, and vice versa. I personally go for the 2nd or 3rd most expensive most of the time, but that's just me.
