I threw in the towel and bought a new one.

Might be a long shot here but I'm looking for an A.R.E CX HD or Snugtop Rebel with the sportsman package. Must be in excellent condition and have slider windows on the side with screen, front fold down slider, and carpet liner. For a 2017 MGM Tacoma short bed. Hoping to find one local here in Southern California.
    :fingerscrossed:

Good luck man, I just priced out both of those shells also from a dealer.

Thanks. I'm having a really hard time deciding between the two. I keep going back and forth. If I can find a great deal on one, that should help me decide.

Heck ya, Snugtop owners have told me they are better but I don't like how the shell almost touches or partially covers the 4x4 logo. Just me. ARE has great lines but, doesn't infringe on the 4x4 logo but some have told me Snugtop is better. I don't know.

If the sticker is your only gripe , then just peel it off and put a new one on a little lower.

I don't think you can go wrong either way. It just comes down to how it looks for you. To me the Snugtop covers the bed side stickers and looks almost like a shoebox lid sitting on the shoebox with the way it overhangs but I like the back window a lot better how it is all glass. The A.R.E looks like it fits perfect on the truck, but I'm not a fan of the frame around the back window, almost makes it look old
:annoyed: but it's come down to those two because I need the extra strength for an rtt plus I want the sliding side windows with a screen.

Is the CX HD stronger than the overland one?

Yeah. Not sure what the overland is rated at. The CX HD is 550lbs

Overland shell doesn't get you much more weight rating, its the added Sportsman Package. It gets you roof and high stress area rigidity. I think its around 500 lbs.

I think the ARE looks better and I think it is stronger too? Good luck with whatever you go with
