The washer fluid has been known to gum up washer fluid level sensors mostly. Haven't seen a pump fail because of it though.

I would recommend to just slow down if it's raining that hard where your wipers aren't working on high speed. No need to keep going posted speed limit in inclement weather.

I’m actually having huge issues with aquapel ever since I’ve used it my wipers skip like crazy. I’m trying to get it off my windshield at the moment. Since it’s “chemically” bonded I’m at the point of trying to polish it out since no cleaner will get it off.

It may be "cheap" but it work well. I have a waterproof spot on my driveway that is about 6 months old from when I dropped the bottle and it cracked when it hit the ground leaking out making a waterproof "stain". Drive turns dark during rain excluding the one bright whitish grey area of the spill.

I have used Rain-X for years. Rarely do I have any streaking, though it has happened.

The best advice I can give is to make sure you have multiple clean DRY soft, microfiber or old soft t-shirt, cloths to wipe/buff the window. I dislike the new spray applicator and normally just dribble it on the window near the top then catching it with my application cloth, again microfiber or old t-shirt. I spread it over about 1/2 the windshield at a time. It will dry quickly.

Do NOT put the application cloth on your paint, as it MAY cause paint issues. I use a plastic margarine container on the hood or roof for the application cloth.

Using the clean and dry cloth "buff" the window. When they "buffing" cloth gets dirty or does not clear the streaks change to a new clean one. That should remove any streaks or rainbow effect. If you still see anything using a spray bottle with plain water to mist the window and buff it dry, repeat till streaks are gone.

I use it on all vehicle windows. It also keeps them clean longer. Also does wonders for glass shower doors and house windows. Avoid decals and vinyl, I have seen some decals loose color/printing.

Don't forget your headlights as well!

Treated headlights stay cleaner longer. Clean headlights project more usable light.

Like I always say, "The better you can see, the safer you can be!"

I think they make a special formula Rain X for plastics like headlights.

    My experience:
Don't put shit directly on windshield. It smears, smudges, streaks and makes wipers skip.
Do use the RainX wiper fluid. It makes it much easier to see in rain and won't streak or make wipers skip. Added bonus: Bugs are easier to clean off. I use the orange fluid year around.

This experience is from 40 years of driving. I have tried most everything and over the past decade the RainX wiper fluid is best. Plus, it applies itself every time you wash your windshield.

As far as wiper speed? This truck is faster wiping than some, slower than others. Basically like all the rest. If you can't see while driving in heavy rain? Slow the F down.

Aquapel makes it so I don't need wipers over 30mph. No skips either

This, when I was younger, I struggled with rain at night and oncoming headlights. One day I was struggling so bad to see, I just put on my sunglasses and dam what a difference. Yes, something's are darker, but I can see so much better when headlights or street lights are making it hard to see because of the rain.

I'd add a clay bar treatment prior to a good cleaning of glass AND blades.....

Tip.... Grab a handful of the alcohol "wipes" next time yer at a chicken wings place..... Use to clean blades as needed.

Blades get messed up scraping bug guts..

    A bit of background:
I have always had vision issues, sever astigmatism in right eye as well as anisometropia (Near sighted in one eye far sighted in the other). Enter 1st grade with glasses and an eye patch as the vision issues were making one eye lazy. One of the side effects of this type of vision issue is amplification of light entering the eye.

My entire life I have been in glasses, o.k. contacts in the 80's, and the bulk of it I have been in prescription sunglasses as well. They are fairly dark and polarized. I have gotten many a look while driving in the fog, rain and at night while wearing sunglasses. I even got pulled over one, speeding, and questioned by the officer about them. I told him they were prescribed eye wear. He asked if I had a copy of the prescription, so I said "Well no" and handed him the sunglasses. When he looked through them he blinked repeatedly and say "OK I will give you a warning on the speeding. Just try to keep the foot a bit lighter."

Polarized glasses will improve driving in almost any conditions if they have tint or not.

Rain-x makes your windows hydrophobic just as a good wax does for your paint. Every little bit helps.
