Repainting front bumper help

Has anyone repainted their front bumper? Mine has a bunch of scratches in it so i'd assume i'd have to take some sandpaper to it but beyond that im pretty lost.

 

I would say that you do need to sand, but not because of the scratches, but because the paint needs something to grab onto, or hold onto.
You should wet sand with a high grit of sandpaper. Dip the sandpaper in water, and then sand. This will provide a very smooth surface to paint, but also provide a surface for the paint to adhere to and grab onto.

After that, you should clean the surface. Clean with rubbing alcohol, or even windex. And wipe away with a paper cloth, and continue to do so until you do not see any left over residue on the cloth.

Then spray paint, follow the directions on the can. Spray one coat, then spray another coat 15 mins later. That's very important. If not completely covered, spray again 15 mins later.
There are many threads on this already, a search will reveal many tips and threads on this. Also try going on google and doing a search, or even youtube?

x2..Unless you have all the right tools to DIY,the effort and cost of trying to repaint it yourself, it would be better to take it to a shop so they can match it correctly. Unfortunately, daily driving will produce rock chips/scratches so the new paint will eventually have the same flaws..Your best bet is post in the buy/sell/trade forum , there are always guys here upgrading there bumper so you may have luck getting one cheap! good luck.

 

My opinion is that the front bumper will need a flex additive to the paint or it
will probably crack. Take it to a professional and have it done right.

 

I'm thinking I'll just look for a used one in hopefully better condition than mine
