I seems like my AC in my 2017 auto TRDOR doesn't blow as cold as I think it should for a vehicle that's less than two years old. Does anyone else seem to have the same perception or had their refrigerant checked?

YES! This is the first summer where I've really needed to use the AC on my '16, and I noticed the air is barely cool. I'm gonna have it looked at when I take it in for the 3 year maintenance.

My fathers old 00’ suburban blows colder than my 17’ Tacoma. It does get cold after a couple minutes but I agree that it doesn’t blow as cold as you’d expect.

The evaporator in my 16's AC developed a crack and was slowly leaking for some time. It got less cool and less cool until one day, it was just blowing hot air. It was 105F out that day too. The replacement evaporator isnt too expensive but the new refrigerant, r-1234yzf is MEGA expensive. Its 18 bucks an ounce and it will take 19 ounces. Also, you can not even purchase this refrigerant yourself... unless you are an AC person.

Good luck, i hope your evap isnt cracked. Mine went out about 3k after my warranty expired

How long did it take from the time you noticed it not being that cool to blowing hot?

Id say it was about a month or 2. It was the beginning of this summer and since it was getting hotter each day, i think it made it worse since I would run the AC higher and for longer.

mine dosent get all that cold.

my dads old tundra and his new one will both get cold enough to run you out of it.

Mine blows "cool" air. had the dealer look at it during the 20k maintenance and they said it was fine. I suspect its low on coolant or something but "within spec"

I don’t use AC very often, usually only when my wife or daughter is with me. The first time I used it it didn’t seem as cold as it should. My wife even commented that it didn’t seem right.

I finally had a day off, so I dropped it off at the dealer this morning. They said it checked out fine, even compared it with a brand new truck on the lot, and vent temperatures were the same. So I don’t know if maybe I just expect too much from a double cab pickup, if the dark interior makes it seem hotter, or if this new refrigerant just isn’t as efficient.

Granted i dont live in a warm climate but we’ve had several high humidity 90’s days and high ac is more than enough and i usually turn it down after a few minutes

I feel like mine doesn't get that cold as well. It gets cold, but not like COLD like my previous 00' vehicle did.

I live in Florida and we have 95 degree heat with 100% humidity so it feels like 105 and my truck sits out side in the sun all day long .... it takes 3 to 5 minutes to get cold but longer it stays on, usually within 10 minutes, it’s arctic cold. It gets hot with black interior! And with that heat, it takes a while for it to mix and get cool. What I do is, roll down the window while I’m moving with AC cranked for a minute or two, then close window. Makes a world of difference.

But to be fair here, my wife’s charger makes my AC look old and decrepit compared to how cold hers gets within 30 seconds ...

i had them check mine also . they said it was good , they just put a temp check after 2 min or something ,
but yes it is weak if your not driving down the road and if you stopped for a hour so everything gets
hot soaked- you need 20 min for it to get cold again when its 90 out (last time i checked thats when you need it )
i don't think that new ac / r-1234yzf has any balls like the older stuff,

Bought a '16 certified Tacoma with 7300 miles about 6 weeks ago. The AC was noticably poor after a week of driving. Took it in for a check, the condenser and the compressor disch line we're leaking. Been waiting a month for parts that are on backorder, so I'd think it's a common issue. They did recharge it for me for the interim, but it's already starting to feel less effective.

My AC is so fuckin icy sometimes I get chills. Also it seems to work better on fresh air than recirculated.
