Ah, old school stuff that doesn't work on our lifted rigs.

 

After wheeling ebay bumper report, so far:

Held up good to bouncing around Rush. Nothing came loose, yet.
Did find what I figured would happen...passenger flare is trying to separate from the fender. Don't really want to cut the flare to make room for the bumper, or cut the bumper to clear the flare.

Flare removal it is! But I need to figure out how to take it off without breaking it. Like to be able to sell em if I can keep them intact.

 

Actually they do make stuff that will work....just not real high tech stuff in most cases. Rancho uses Gabrial as a subcontractor. Rancho was once upon a time "high end". The were the hot name in desert racing into the 90s. I was told by someone who may or may not know that monroe makes OME shocks for them. Dont know that to be gospel.....

What I'm reading is OME shocks are possibly made for them by KYB. Listed as "made in Australia"

Not unlike car batteries. 100s of "brands" made by about 5 manufacturers.

Clutch bumped up to priority #1! Ordering the LCE Pro kit next week, install that weekend, I hope. Need daily drive-ability back.
Was hot and humid af yesterday. Clutch was NOT liking 33" km2s and the AC on, at all! Had to ride the clutch way more than I should starting uphill.

Spare 255 is next. Then winch or locker. Flip a damn coin.

 

Same direction my brain is leaning.

I do like a good high center from time to time!

 

Winch is get out of jail free card.

Locker is dont go to jail in the first place card.

Either is a good investment.

You'll use the winch more.

Locker is like the difference between 2wd and 4wd all over again.

Others have winches. It ALMOST doesnt matter which end of the cable you're on.

You never cease to amaze me on how difficult you make the simplest things. I don't "avoid mud"....I just don't deliberately do stupid shit. Got that out of my system when I was about 16. I've seen you stuck in places I went through AND NEVER SPUN A TIRE....so I "avoid show off spots".....that's an interesting way of looking at it. So getting stuck in places no one else gets stuck is "showing off"?

It is simple. I'm getting a winch first. That was the consensus after Matt's post.

A locker is coming soon, too. I've realized LBL style of "mudding" sucks when I get home. Rocks are more fun, albeit nerve wracking. Never discounted their useful qualities.

 

I use my locker way more than my winch. That being said both need to be on your list to purchase. Just get whichever has the best deal at time of purchase.

 

Isn't going through/over things that you may not be sure if you can make it through/over the whole purpose of off-roading or testing your skills. Because I would count as avoiding spots as more of "Overland" type approach as you have been quoted before trying to make fun of. So instead, you come into someone else's build thread just to try to basically call them an idiot cause they don't see your point?

 

Mud sneaks up on you and breaks your shit later. Rocks will either break you while your on them or you leave unscathed haha
