Next time you'll remember to secure your food so bears are not tempted. I'm afraid of bears. I'd rather they not come around. So gotta keep the food out of reach.

There still tempted, they just pissed they can't get it all tied up.

One yr, got into one of my gear boxes and bit into my mosquito spray, was pissed and broke into someone else's ride, broke the window for some bread.

    X2.

If I can, I actually secure my food in locked up, air-tight containers and tie them to a tree base or something 50 feet or so from my camp. I never keep food out next to my tent. Terrified of a bear or two coming up to my tent while I'm sleeping.

I love bears, just don't want to have any close encounters with them. Plus, when I'm asleep at camp I'm dead to the world because booze. The padlock helps me sleep better too lol

The padlock is a great idea. If more people secured their food the bears would learn and would be less willing to investigate.

Allegedly when bears see these, depending on where you are, they just keep walking. I have one for backpacking and love it. It's the smaller one. It fits enough food for a couple days and it works well as a seat. I kinda want to get the bigger one.

This. 14 years of backpacking with one in some active bear areas. Never once has it been touched. Right now it has 7 days worth of food and 22oz. of 151 in it.

You should do all can to keep your food from bears. Safe food and drink storage is the best thing. Also, if they do come around, holler, bang pots, throw rocks... anything to make them learn that humans are not a source of food and that we are scary.

    Wrecked!
How does one do that when no bear lockers at camp. Truck was parked in over flow. I could of tied it to a tree but bears can climb.
Next time I'm just going to place food in neighboring camp site. Lol
