So I plan on purchasing a Tacoma in a few days... I have actually never driven a Tacoma but feel like it fits what I need and want currently so I'll be test driving both an AT and MT. Not trying to debate AT or MT, but am curious to how I can find out if I am running the latest tune if end up with a MT? Is there a way to find out rather I have the 04B13 or not?

If it's new on the lot, it most likely has the latest. Theres always the chance that it's not since some dealers just don't care

 

I figured as much, but that's my concern... I'd like to be able to confirm prior to purchase in case it is not the latest, I can have the dealer do it as part of the deal/sell.

 

if you put it to the dealer when the sale looks imminent to them, they will get that sorted. all they need to do is take it around back, hook it up, and take a look.

 

Just see if you can make the dealer check and verify. They care more about making the sale to deny you that. And then if it turns out they lied just to shut you up, you can bully them for it

 

Is it possible to sell my OVTUne? I had Matt remotely install on my rig to 1.04a a few weeks ago, but have since had my dealer install the new flash, which I am o pleased with. I liked the OVTUne, but I’m just not Pc savy enough to keep relying on Matt to do remote Installs of the latest versions. I believe have heard of others sellIng them used for around $300 and having Matt do a re-licensing for another fee. Is this correct?

 

Saying you're not pc-savvy enough to learn isn't accurate: it merely describes a lack of willingness to learn. Education is really about how much effort you put into it. Your comment simply makes you appear lazy. Sorry, not sorry.

Just take the time to learn and flash it. It's simple and you'll get it

 

I'm not trying to step on anyone's toes Ziggy. I've only used Apple since the 80s and bought a pc tablet when I purchased the ovtune last spring. It's been nothing but headaches for me to figure out. You're right and not right--more like I don't have the confidence to do this on my own vs a potential outcome of messing up my rig. And I don't want to rely on others every time there's a new update, etc.. Matt delivers a great product with equally great customer service. I'm just not comfortable around a pc. sorry

 

There are videos out that describe the process step by step with specifics for each part if I'm not mistaken. Perhaps someone in the alpha thread has a link or two

Not sure on pricing, but I know some have sold their kits.

 

I picked up my 18 mt two weeks ago and it has old version ,,, trying to get them to put new one in ,,,and I asked them twice to check and was told it has latest and greatest ,, hooked up Matt’s program and sure enough old version is there

 

exactly. no way you can say it's a 2018 so it will have new software. that's not how shit works in the real world. if you want to know you need to hook it up and see.

That's another thing I was gonna bring up, the dealer can just say it is and an everyday guy wouldn't know any better

 

That’s what my dealer did to me on the last update (AT). They told me over the phone that there wasn’t a newer update available for my truck. I told them that I would like to see a printout showing that it had the updated ECU version when I came to pick up the truck. When I got there, the ECU had been updated, though they said that they didn’t do an update, and continued to argue about how it wasn’t available. I verified that the update was done when I got home.

I did the next update myself with Techstream.
