    Too much.
Wait, I missed the DSP part. Did you have them tune everything?

I did the same route as you, tried keeping the stock entune deck and upgraded speakers with amp and sub. Sounded better but still not great. Did a new kenwood ddx6905s with maestro to keep steering wheel controls. Sounds good now. Had to configure the up buttons to change radio presets manually with the maestro because they didn't do anything at first.

Try this first and you will be amazed how much it changed the dynamics on my 14 stock system! 434934AB-C893-44D2-85E6-F1C46465B719.jpg

Sony exited the Walmart XPlod shit speaker world and is actually putting out some decent car audio pro stuff. You should check it out. I was actually impressed when we bypassed the head-unit and went directly through the amp's bluetooth. The amp is pretty sweet. The subs are.. probably a little budget. They may get swapped tomorrow. I know the system has the nuts.

Man, that's a nice head unit. I used to run the Kenwood Excelon stuff a decade ago. Great head unit back then. Good to know on the steering wheel controls.

I had the same problem when I upgraded speakers. My brother in law (works in the industry) put in an alpine mini amp thing that amplifies the signals from the head unit or something. Electronics are not my thing so that’s the best description I got lol

I'm assuming they know how to do that.. that was the whole point of getting an amp with the DSP built-in. Bringing it back to them first thing in the morning. Based on the fact that it sounded pretty good when we bypassed the head-unit but shitty when we went through the head-unit, I guess I answered my own question. Stock head unit is trash.

Yeah the car audio guy was like "maybe we try putting a flux capacitor thingy-ma-jig between the head unit and the amp to boost the signal" and I'm like whatever dude just make my shit not suck when I leave work every day.

That’s hilarious !! You know the only way to get it done right is a new head unit!

It worked great for mine, I can sit at vol-35 on the highway and it’s loud enough when before it was barely audible at vol-60 (max). I do remember him saying that whatever he put in was almost unfeasable in terms of electrical efficiency.

Something isn't right in their setup or tuning.

I have the non JBL head unit, replaced all the factory speakers and added a mono amp and sub.

Basic speaker level out from the rear speakers to the amp and the stock head unit powering the doors and dash.

Volume over 30 will run you out of the cab, sub hits very hard. Mirror bouncing kinda hard.

Sound quality is definitely best via the USB input but Bluetooth and XM aren't that far behind.

There is so much out there nowadays in the car audio world there’s absolutely no reason you can’t have a system that’ll deliver what you want whether it’s bass that rattles all the windows on the block or clarity that’s better than any band could ever really sound for a few hundred bucks. I prefer my system to emphasize power with at least minimal clarity... I like the feeling that the band is playing on the hood of my truck. When I first got the car audio bug era 1990 stuff was expensive now it’s ridiculous what $500 worth will get you if you know what to buy.
