can you take a photo of the location of the crack a little further away so I can better understand it's location? I'm brain dead right now and am a bit interested in how this could have happened.

If drivers side, its the battery weight, seen it on a few 2nd gems. Mostly guys that haul ass on dirt roads. The inner fender cant support the weight of the battery. Crappy design.

Guys, anything can break. A Unimog can be broken. OP, look up this same problem on FJ Cruisers.

Not my pic but if you removed the air box it would be in the circled area. D788187D-2380-4B83-9108-2985DF9B3DE7.jpg

Is there a chance your suspension is overtravelling? Do you have the same upward limit from the bumpstops or has that all been altered? Are your shocks maybe running out of travel?

Honestly nothing that I’ve done with this truck should have caused this from wheeling. The absolute hardest thing I’ve ever done was Hells Revenge 1 time. I always crawl around, never bouncing it on rocks trying to get up something.

There’s not a mark from tires or the like on the plastic fender liner where this is. It’s can have only happened from flexing. If that’s the case, guys don’t ever go out and do anything off pavement. This has to be weaker or defect. If it’s not go check em boys.

Just a thought to consider. If your struts are running out of travel before then A-arms hit the bump stops, it puts the pressure on the strut, and strut tower, rather than on the bump stops, which may change the stress and dynamics on the frame. You might want to check that out if you can, before Toyota accuses you of something similar if it is a problem.

Hopefully it’s just a defect, and they can help you out.

Vibration induced fatigue is a bitch. I had cracks ranging from .5"-6" on the sheet metal in my trucks front end. I plated the worst ones.

All Tacomas driven hard on dirt/gravel/washboard suffer from it. 1st gen, 2nd gen, 3rd gen...it doesn't matter.

Get rid of the shitty rubber core support bushings and replace them with poly, or your core supports will start falling apart fast.

Red "X" were marked before a a single trip. 1 of the cracks grew an inch, and the biggest one decided to split into 3 at the "X"

Oh I get it. But it’s 2 years old! If it was over 100k more like over 150k I’d be saying oh well. But it’s 2 damn years old!

No one ever noticed the cracks in the 2nd Gen frames as they were hidden under all the rust, or dissolved along with the rest of the frame.
