I know that the 5100's on the front only is commonplace from people here who want a leveling effect or 2"lift. Why not put new 5100 rears on as well? It's only $140 more.

It makes sense to me to have a matching set of struts.

What are the benefits of getting the rears also?
Why do people only get the fronts?

Because you can lift the back with a aal or a block and the ride matches front to back.

I’ve read that the valving of the 5100 dampeners is the same as the OEM Off-Road bilsteins. So if you have an OR there’s no performance benefit by installing the rear 5100.

So the rebound and compression of the 5100 is the same as the stock rear strut? Assuming Im not worried about rear lift.

Correct. The rears on the or are the bilstien 4600 or 4800. Virtually Same shock. Just like the 6100s are the same just bigger.

Sweet! I'm going to just get the 5100's for the front and see how it looks and drives. If I want the rear higher I'll get a little block or AAL. Oh I'm putting KO2's 285/75/16 tires on and have 1.5" wheel spacers. I think it will drive well but will end up raising the rear eventually.

If you keep the 5100s on the lowest perch there will really be no lift.
Edit.... I see a cmc and some hammering to the wheel well pinch welds and and trimming of the liners ( use a heat gun);)

A hammer and heat gun don't scare me. I'm going to set them on the top setting and see how the truck sits. I want a fairly level stance if not just a bit higher in the front. A work in progress it will be fun to see how it ends up.

You’re going to be WAY taller up front on the top setting with no rear lift. If your goal is some major bro lean you’re heading in the right direction!

5100's and tires on order! I also got a 1" toytec rear block kit just in case the Bro lean is to much, we'll see. I'll take before and after pics. Excited to have a new toy. :smokertransformer:

If you go 2” lift with 5100s on stock coils it’ll be a ton of preload and ride stiff as shit, plus you’ll need some strong ass spring compressors to get them on.

Whichever the case, it’s been done here but with much complaint. If you’re on pavement most of the time, it may ok.

The 5100s are a big improvement on the rear. A lot less fade, due to higher oil volume and cooler running temps. In my mind, they make as much of a difference on the rear as the front. Helped me a lot with fade and hitting bump stops.

90% of my driving is highway. I've thought about springs and decided stock ones will suit my needs for now. If I don't like the way they feel I'll get 887's or 888's. We'll see. One step at a time. As far as install goes free and not a problem...

I’d highly suggest a 1” lift on the 5100s and the 1” block, at least you’ll be level.

If you go 2”, as soon as you put weight in the back you’ll have a huge rake up front

For what it’s worth, I have 5100s on all fours, with Toyota factory OR coils up front. 1” lift front and 1” lift back (add-a-leaf) with factory rake. The truck is way better on road and off road. Night and day difference. Highway and City handling is much better, and off-road performance is also great for what I do. You won’t be disappointed with 5100s.

Ya "Bro Lean" Cool right... The only weight I'll have in the back is the kids baseball equipment. I bought this truck because it's bad ass and looks cool. If I take it off road it will not get close to the limits. Grossomotto sit back relax and have a drink I've got it under control. I know my needs and wants. Remember this truck is a toy for me. I'm just starting to play with it.
