On the topic of Ford's falling apart. My old Man loves his. I always poke fun at it. 2014 2.7ecoboost. The day before he goes to trade it in for a 2018, it breaks down 300ft from the house. I have to tow it into the driveway with the taco. HE has to call the dealer and tell them his trade-in needs a tow to the dealership the next day!

Fucking Ford's. That was the best part of my day.

If the Ranger has the 2.7L V6 EB that’s in my F150 work vehicle, it’s gonna be a skookum choocher. That engine blows me away. So much more power than what Toyota offers us with the 3.5L. They will have no complaints on power and torque. Reliability will be it’s only issue, and the fact it looks boring.

Is there room in the 3rd Gen engine bay for one of these? Maybe we need bed stiffeners and engine bay stiffeners as well.

These were a must for the old Toyota Coupes.

Lol I think that’s harder on it.
Trade it in if you can. It’s probably just a fluke thing.
Get some good trade and rock a new taco !!

I think an off-road bumper would handle that. Keeping the front frame from flexing too much. The only thing holding the front fenders together is the aluminum crash bumper and the top crossbar.

That cracking is due to a paper thin sheetmetal radiator support bulkhead and fender apron metal as well. If you do any sort of wheeling the only thing that will happen is that it will further worsen over time.

Within a few thousand miles of mildly offroading mine (it was my first offroad vehicle) when it was new I was finding cracks in the sheetmetal as well. I'm sorry it happened to you, needless to say though this just further proves that anything built past the first gens were designed for mostly on road use despite their advertising towards the offroad crowd.

FJ Cruisers had the same kind of issues with cracking.
