Morning guys! Recently moved to Austin from Hawaii! Loving it so far, but it does not seem like there are many off-road trails to go on around the Austin area?

Welcome Don!! There is a off road park called Hidden Falls, it’s NW of Austin just outside a town called marble falls they have mild to wild trails. They have a website. There will be a HF weekend in December where a lot are getting together for camping an wheeling. I’ll post the thread below.

These are Baja Designs. They are the best thing since sliced bread! I’ve used them a few times at night when I needed the extra light on trails and they were a life saver. Way better and brighter than the stock ones. If you buy them try and catch a sale. I think I got mine when there was a GB on here actually!

Well I need/want a tonneau cover. Looking at diamondback. Saw a great deal actually on CL in Austin but was a day too late! Then after I run these tired bald gonna do a small lift and tires. Probably a roof rack (prinsu or front runner). Those are my immediate plans lol

Welcome to Austin and "the list!" I see you went to McKinney Falls - are you a south-sider or a Canadian* up on the north side?

This is a VERY active group, and we will be going out of our ways to help you in all the various ways that Tacos are celebrated. Just remember that TW is the most expensive free membership you've ever had, and prepare to :spending:.

    We hope you like bacon.

First, there's the TTC thread: https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/ttc-☆-official.541185/. Chad will be your "membership consultant" and all-around likemonger.

Second, we meet at least monthly at a number of events (Cars and Coffee, Cars and Cookies, Chad Wanted a Taco, etc) and are all over town. Check out this and the TTC thread for some pics of our gatherings - we've taken over whole sections of parking lots. Heh heh...

Third, when the urge strikes you (and it will strike you) we have access to the best chop shop around - @Texoma will help you with all your "how much do I have to chop to get these tires to fit?!?) needs.

    See you around town!

Right now I live I guess north. I live off of Airport by N Lamar by the 99 ranch grocery store. Yeah McKinney falls was good but a lot of people. I’m kinda more of a camping out in the sticks with peace and quiet kind of guy lol. Thanks I am sure I will find those threads handy!

I have a Extang solid-fold, which has the benefit of being removable in 60 seconds (and goes back on in under 5 minutes). Really very solid.
There are a number of state parks within 3 hours drive of here that are outstanding. https://tpwd.texas.gov/state-parks/

McKinney falls is too close to town. 30 years ago it was 20 minutes outside of town, now the town surrounds it.

I personally like Bastrop, Enchanted Rock, and Guadalupe, but I haven't been to any of them in years.

Thanks Cap I will have to check those parks out! I was close to going to Bastrop but last minute decision was McKinney. Yeah I am kind of leaning towards the diamondback because I am thinking I might do a rack on my bed and looking for compatibility. I am still unsure though but thanks for the recommendation. I definitely want something that easily removes if I want to use the bed.
