    Not yet. :frusty:

    Sup Elliott,

I try to offset the fuel costs of my commute so we've been driving the the hybrid sedan. I'm still 2.5k away from the 20k service and would like to wait but..........with it being a long weekend coming up, I may see if I can get it into Jones, up in Bel Air. When I called the other day they said they would do it.

I will know right away if it was worth it or not. There is an area when I leave the house, and the road gently slopes up and crests. I swear I will will be fine until I am about 90% up the incline then it downshifts into fourth every time. Even though the hill flattens out at the top I have to literally take my foot off the gas pedal for it to upshift. It makes me so mad that I force it most of the time.

Plus there are times on 95 that when I am in the sweet spot I can cruise up to like 78 mph and not break over 2k on the tach. As soon as I try to pass or get to those areas at both Gunpowder Rivers where the inclines are greater, fourth gear. Same way down there, on 50, going over any of the bridges.

So far I have not been too angry about it but knowing there is a easy fix is making me anxious to get it done. I've driven manual transmission vehicles and motorcycles before getting this Taco. I love it to death, but it sucks because I understand vehicle transmission dynamics. To me, I have just been telling myself the engine is under powered for the weight of the truck. I know it's not true.

I recently sold some weapons to Jim, down there near you, and part of the deal he threw in his K&N intake. I thought for sure that would make a difference. It did not. It still hunts, and it still surges. Now, after 3 tanks of gas (about how long the ECU needs to relearn) I can aggressively throttle from a dead stop to the point it actually will hold the gears through the band but I know if I stomped it it would surge at 40-50 like it always has.

I am so ready for this update. I had a 4Runner Trail before this and the 4.0 was not like this, and before that I had the Tundra with the iForce, LOL, and we know that was not like this. So I would deal with it if I had to but I know I don't. I was actually contemplating learning how to do the updates myself, buying the equipment and all that but truth be told, I am scared. I would be in the dog house a long time if I bricked the ECU. LOL

That was exactly what I was experiencing Crimson Flam3s. It's still early in my evaluation but I have a MPG increase. I'm going to monitor this for a few days and see how it balances out. If this pan's out, I'm going to attribute it to less pedal movement to truck movement. So far I feel a difference. My feeling is, If a customer want's the update-- Give it to him. I'll tell you what, the dead spot I had on Rt. 95 entering the highway with a Tractor Trailer bearing down on me was a SAFETY CONCERN and I said that.

I’m taking mine in Saturday to get the TSB done (hopefully). I’m also having the crosswind window trim TSB done.

You might want to call first and ask to speak to the service adviser or manager so you don't waste a trip Moondog. Seems it's hit or miss which dealerships will do it.

I just spoke with them and had to finagle it a bit. My old service advisor got fired. He did whatever was asked of him and said if I said it was there it was there so he’d put in the system that they duplicated my concerns. This one told me to bring in the TSB that I wanted done and they’d reflash it. They still have to do the crosswind TSB anyway so I’ll try to talk them into this TSB too.

Very cool! Just wanted to throw it out there.

I called mine, because if they were hesitant, and I said this on the phone, I was taking it to another one instead. LOL. There are just too many near me to be bothered with bull shit.

I would have to say, my experience with San Marcos Toyota in Texas was great today. Took my truck in for the 10,000 mile maint. and had the PDF form in hand for the TSB-0062 update. Handed it to the service writer (Bob), and he said we'll take care of it. As soon as I drove it away from the dealership, I could tell that the ECU(Service Code EG1810) flash had tremendously improved the performance on the truck. The stutter at about 1500 RPM was gone, and the shifting was smoother and it held the revs out longer. I didn't have to mash the gas pedal to the floor to get the truck to respond, which would cause that jerky motion, when in 2nd or 3rd. Once I was on I35 heading back to Kyle, it stayed consistent with not downshifting every time I was climbing an overpass.

Can't believe that some dealerships are telling members that they aren't going to install the update. Seems like, if you could provide proof of the TSB, and the symptoms that you are having, they would have to say yes.

I agree completely Rob. My local dealer is iffy at best but they know I’m a pain in the rear when I don’t get what I think I should get. They can do it or they are punching a ticket to dance....LOL

Yea, I'm about 3 miles south of the Pa line near Delta. Small world! I used to work at a place in Owings Mills called Ambec what seems like a lifetime ago. Real close to the Pillsbury cake plant. The smells would kill me.

Debbie downer here but people may not want to mention service advisers names here as they may get in trouble from Toyota if they are said to do a TSB just because a customer wanted it . Toyota has rules they must follow for confirming a symptom even though they may know the TSB may be needed for their truck . It would suck to have a good guy get fired for being a good guy !
