the ghost of 04b10 returns.... it just won't go away!

 

I think more of you have this pinging than you think.if you recal I was the first to notice it in 104a,others picked up on it a week or two after.
You guys are so comfortable with this new tune you don’t notice it yet. The pinging is less than 104a so might take longer .

 

What exactly am I looking for on this pinging? What rpm/load. I am unaware what to listen for. Thanks.

There are two main symptoms of the detonation,
A rough / stumble / bumpy road feeling when driving constant speed under 2000 rpm and audible metallic popcorn noise.

 

The pinging isn't only tune related so don't ignore symptoms if you aren't tuned. So far a lot of feedback I am getting is from people who have the TSB and no tune

 

Still on 1.04 here, no issues

 

Currently running 04B13 and unless I'm oblivious af, I haven't had issues

 

I will say though, that I'm still running 91 E0 fuel on 04B13.

The ping/knock was easily noticeable before (you could hear it). Don't notice anything now.

 

Will this hold back 1.05 M/T release?

Sometimes i notice some weirdness but its typically right after i filled up somewhere and the fuel wasn't the best. I try to run 91e0 but occasionally i get stuck with ethanol blended 87

 

I only here the pinging with window open and running along a vehicle or hwy barrier as the sound deflects back in.it is not repeatable,in my scenario it is most pronounced mid to full throttle 1st and 2nd.i can also swear I here isolated pinging low to mid range non repeatable but much less,like 1to4 pings.

Mine is doing it in 2nd gear rolls from 1k-2k. TSB installed.

 

Let me check. I’ve been granny shifting at 2000-2500 rpm. Don’t ask me why. I’m more zen this way instead of shifting at 3500.

Yesterday felt some bogging down and stuttering at 2000. 1st to 2nd gear. I thought it was me. It usually is the case. Will check tonight.

Matt I have had pinging sense day one with my truck. Most was caused by the CPS that in my case was actually contacting the reluctance ring on the crank. That said with the TSB update my truck (other than power loss) my truck is running better than it ever has. I have tried 87, 89 & 93 octane on the TSB all have run well without pinging.

 

Just drove home. No pings or stutters

 

Decided that I'm gonna gamble and bet that 1.05 for the MT won't be out this weekend, so I'm leaving my laptop behind while i go on my small road trip. With my luck though, that means the tune will drop when I'm out on the road tomorrow, so you're welcome in advance
