Question. Looking at getting a Hi-Lift Jack soon but not sure what size to get. Possibly going to do a +2 LT kit in the future.... (FARRRRRR in the future.) So what's the best size to get?

Depends on who you ask and where you are going to store it... I have the 60”.. many have the 48”. Some ppl on the web say to go 60” as you may need to lift past what the 48” can go to, depending on where you are when you’ll need to use it..

Or you can go full baller like @squint0241 and get that Pro Eagle aluminum off-road floor jack.. safer to use than a hi-lift..

Didnt ARB post that jack as a joke? And pro eagle might be safer but feel like the hi lift covers all situations. No one is sliding a pro eagle under there truck in the middle of a rock pile to lift your truck. It's only really useful in flat ground. Also idk how I feel about that bag. Looks like an explosion waiting to happen.

If you want a bit of safety, get the safe jack accessory. It’s more than a hi-lift but it is definitely more stable.. still have to watch the handle as you are lifting or lowering, but you don’t have to worry as much about the jack tilting and dropping the load.

Lots of people bring jacks when they go wheeling, but does anyone bring jack stands? Just curious. I don't trust being under the truck in my garage without a jack stand. Being on the trail in less than ideal conditions is worse. Yeah you can put a tire under the frame, but if something fails, you'd probably still get hurt.
Thinking about one or two of these:
    https://safejacks.com/collections/compact-jack-stands/products/8-x-10-compact-jack-stand

:edit: shit that's just the base... whole kit is like $300... never mind

Yea I def need to look into it. Didn’t think about it at the time, I just wanted a 240 connection for a decent price.

That being said, it has a 6.5g tank which is good for 15 hours under full load. I’ll keep 20 gallons around which is enough for a few days in total. Gas is gas, I’ll hold it through hurricane season and then use it elsewhere. Refill the cans as needed.

I personally don't think the hi lift is the issue, its the manners in which they are used. User error and not mechanical failure.

Wheel chocks are probably just as important as the jacking method and they are often overlooked on the trail and in the garage.

The exhaust jacks are a real thing, and they work well. Imagine trying to use a conventional jack on sand or soft mud and you can see where the bag can be useful.

Some other notable off road jacks that haven't been mentioned.

Baja designs kwik jak, uses Co2, they had a HD version too. I don't hear about these any more, maybe they just sell LEDS now

For the ballers out there. King screw jack. Use with your impact gun or by hand. FOA makes a $300 one for paupers.

SmittyBilt works fine for me. Just one size and fits in my short bed. But like Bullacula and Vigo said, secure placement and I wouldn't get under the truck without sturdy stands!
