Does the 1st gen 01-04 have VIN sticker on the tail gate?

Can someone open their oem untouched tail gate and see if you have a VIN sticker on it? It should be on the left or right side of the tail gate when you open it.

I'm just curious that I do not have one on mine. Yesterday I looked at my neighbors Tundra and he has a VIN sticker on the right side of his tail gate.

Not sure if the 2001-2004 Tacoma's had a VIN sticker there or not? I have these VIN stickers everywhere else, doors, hood, fenders, etc but not the tail gate.

Just want to get a 2nd opinion. I bought my Tacoma used so I cant verify if I have an oem tailgate on mine. Just want to make sure my truck has had no accidents. Appears to have not been in any.

 

Got em on the fenders/hood but I do not see one on the tailgate.

 

I did not see one on my tail gate but they were very obvious on the rest of the car.

Wern't 1st gen Tacomas sent in from Japan w/o beds and the beds added here to get around truck import laws? If that was the case syncing the S/N would be interesting.

I just got paranoid since the rest of the panels on my truck have the VIN stickers and the tail gate does not. Especially after seeing that my neighbors 2009 Tundra has the VIN sticker on the right side of his tail gate.

 

No. All 1995.5 - 2004 Tacomas were built at the NUMMI plant in Fremont CA.
