It took me close to a year to end up pulling the trigger on the Falkens. Now let’s home it doesn’t take me a year to decide between staying with the stock wheels or getting the Pro wheels.

Did you TPMS system transfer from your stock to Pro wheels without issues? I’m still debating this. Geez.....

Just thought I would give an update on my P Rated 285/70/17 Wildpeaks. After putting 11k on them over the course of 10 months they are down to 7/32nds of tread. These tires came from Falken with 14/32nds, which means I have burned 50% of the tread in 11,000 miles. I am EXTREMELY displeased with these tires and neither Falken or Discount tire have offered to help. I talked to the manager of Discount Tire for over an hour and he said the best he could do is give me a $160 credit towards another set of Wildpeak's if I trade my old tires in. Obviously I'm not going to spend another $700 on tires that will only last 20,000 miles. These are seriously the worst tires I have ever owned and the customer service I have received from Falken and Discount tire has been very unpleasant. I would not recommend these tires to anyone.

I’m sorry to hear about your tires. Out of curiosity have you been rotating them and is the wear fairly even? That’s not good to hear as I haven’t even mounted mine up yet.

Funny story about that actually. I went in to get them rotated at 4,000 miles and discount tire's manager refused to rotate them. They said that these tires only need to be rotated every 10k. After that I called customer service and told the story about how I went in to get my tires rotated and the manager refused to do it, and they didn't believe me and said that they will rotate your tires whenever you want. Well they didn't. After that I decided to go with my own judgement and made them rotate them at 7,000 miles and the tread wear was very uneven. Discount tire seriously sucks.

I appreciate the help. As an FYI, I’ve always been a stock only guy with only adding upgraded tires. With the few mods I’ve done I’m already way out of my bubble. I’ve added mostly aftermarket OEM Toyota stuff with the exception of LED interior lighting. I’m also going back and forth between the Pro wheels and Ray 10s because the Rays are matte finish and I’m not sure how the shiny will look on my Quicksand.

So you already had uneven wear and cupping at 7000 miles? That sounds like an alignment issue. Would definitely explain the half life at 11k. Bullshit they only wanna give you $160 for them tho

But its typical to rotate tires every other oil change which is around 10k miles. Seems about right to me

I just ordered the Pro wheels. I’ll wait until they get here to break the news to my wife. Then next week I’ll drop the “crap honey, I forgot I ordered a skid plate too, I’m sorry” on her. Oh, and that rear bumper.....

Congrats you will really like them, I almost went for the Pro Skid Plate today but talked myself out of it.

I’m either going Mobtown or RCI because they are beefier and the black powder coat will look better to me.

I recommend Mobtown over RCI. RCI has this weird lip on the front that wraps up and over the front of the frame by like 1". It interferes with aftermarket bumpers and a lot of people have to cut it off. Plus some people talk about their diff touching the skid whereas mobtowns sits a hair lower so it'll work with or without a diff drop.

Not an alignment issue. I got an alignment the day after I got these tires on.

Mounted up and TPS transferred no problem. Like the look and did 75 mph back up from Watsonville and smooth sailing.
Now I just need to repair the stitches! TRD Pro with Falken Wildpeak 285/70R17 and a 2 inch level. No rubbing! Stoked!
    Next purchase...a Go Fast Camper!

I just picked up some 265/75r16 sl in these and was wondering if my stock spare will be all right or if I should get the same size?
    Thanks

I have the same size right now (265/75/R16) and kept my 245 spare. Just put your 265's on the back and put the spare up front. You'll be fine.

Keep in mind, most cars/vans have a donut, and are rated 50 miles @ 50 MPH. Don't drive across the country (or off-road) with the 245 spare, but it'll get you where you need to go.

Not sure if this applies to all Falken tires, but dang... I bought 4 new AT3W's online, had vibration and 2 were crap (per Discount Tire).

Had 4 replacements come in and 1 was crap (per Discount Tire).

I still have slight vibration with these tires above 52MPH. Better than what it was before, but I hope they "break in" and it goes away. Discount Tire also said my rims were good. Never had it until I upgraded rims and tires... but man do they look good!

Edit: I’ve also got aluminum hub centric rings (108-106) and ET lugs, for those wondering.

I'm still running three sets on work vehicles, all E-load, and have not had any vibration or wear issues at all. I'm wondering if most of the problems people are having are due to the lighter carcass of the standard load tires?
