I am. They still work just fine and have come in handy for some late night work on the truck.

With all of this great info being said, I am lost as headless goose. Plan is to visit @Lars with massive mounts of cooked brisket, ribs, chicken and help me design, configure mine.

They are a heavy duty 3m tape, kinda like the style that is used to attach emblems and body molding, it has held up for the 2 years that I have had it with the heat and everything. I cleaned the underside of the hood well and used a heat gun to heat it up a little when attaching.

3M VHB tape. Comes in several different varieties, all of which are ridiculously strong. It's what I used to reattach my roof molding and they aren't going anywhere. I also discovered that if you use it to attach something to the wall and later attempt to remove it, the plaster or wall paper will delaminate before the VHB bond will break.

I believe this is what @ETXTacoma is referring to in his post below, but you don't need to use a heat gun. Surface preparation is, as always, highly recommend even with this stuff.

Yea, you could also do a low power Rigid rock light and mount it under there and use a water proof flip switch to activate it?

Agreed. I have some magnetic shop lights that I use, otherwise I would have added under-hood lighting a long time ago for that very reason.

No, the tape. IIRC a roll will set you back about $20 if not more.

    Yes.
I'm happy to help. Generally I need to know what you want to be able to do, and what your budget is. :)

I'm always going to suggest getting your ham radio license and a 2m/70cm radio, but a GMRS rig is an easy first step, with a lower barrier to entry. If the group as a whole says "We want to use GMRS and are willing to get licensed" then life is easy :)

Wow! Just waking up. Went to work at 5:00 yesterday morning, drove 260 miles in town. Left work around 4:30. Went to see Mushroomhead at 7:00 and got to bed at about 3:00 this morning. Gotsta say, 100% worth it!

I have a couple of rolls if you need it.

I bet. You've got to be going stir crazy by now. Still wearing half a dozen hats and doing the job of two people up there?

How many people here are licensed? Thinking about doing a radio setup, would love to get something better than a cb but if the majority are running it then it’s worth it to be able to communicate.
