I just jumped on the patch game with a buddy and wanted to know if anyone had come up with a better way to get patches to stick to the headboard other than just pushing really hard? I have the sunroof as well and that is basically impossible to get velcro patches to stick on. Any tips or tricks out there?

I use two sewing pins per patch inserted on an angle. They don’t move at all, and it’s invisible if you take them off.

I use T-Pins and use them to pin velcro backing onto the headliner - then stick the patch on the backing.

Sometimes if you kinda rub the patches on in a circular motion, it helps get the hooks into the headliner.

Sounds like the only viable option for 3rd genners. That or buy a 1st gen. :D

I had my headliner out to do the prinsu....(Access Cab) The material will practically peel off the headliner. Pulled a little at a corner while it was off. I will be doing this during the winter probably, had my LKQ rep trying to find me a donor headliner so I can cover it and then just swap out. If not I'll pull it again and see what happens....

I have done this to the patches that are on there, But just can't get them to stick as nice as I would like to. I'm a bit nervous when driving with the windows down as well.

I wonder if I could use some gritty sandpaper to rough up the headliner and then maybe they would stick better

Oh...they can fly off. Been there. Have a few in the truck, rest are inside where they can't "escape"

I’m telling you guys - pins. All the windows open on the freeway and I’ve never had one move. Even better part is you can use patches with no Velcro backing at all, and you also don’t screw up your headliner if you take them off.AE3836A2-0802-4119-B5FD-A46F24AFE9B6.jpg
