Fix bull bar or get brush guard?

I'm trying to decide if I should replace my bull bar with a good brush guard, or just fix it up. Here's my truck right now.



Here's what I was thinking of getting.

I probably won't be wheeling much, but I do drive on some country roads, so deer could be an issue. Opinions and/or reasons welcome.

 

I grew up in the woods of Maine, and dumb ass deer running out from the bushes was always something to worry about, and I hit one when I was growing up.
The full brush guard would probably save your grill, headlight, and possibly bumper, maybe even air bags....

 

Brush guards are weak. Replace the bumper.

I was having the save delima, brush vs bull. I grew up with a brush guard on my 91 mazda b2200 and it saved me more than once. But the newer brush guards all seem to have the head light grills which I don't dig. At the moment I'll leaning toward a bull bar.

 

I would say Bush guards, I have one and love it, its saved my bumper more then once on the trail (the rubber sliders work really well to save from a bumper scrape), and by having the headlight grills/bars it has saved my headlights from some of the major impacts with branches on the trails.

I have also noticed that the full bush bar helps me to see the corners of my truck easier on the trails and for a newbie like me its pretty helpful for those tricky sections.

normally....since i like them alot.....i would have said get a brush guard. but......i voted get a wheeling bumper....such as arb.

i have a hunters accessories brush guard,liked it alot at first, but getting over it pretty quickly. not stout at all.....which i already knew, but rust from shitty cleaning and powdercoating from the factory would keep me away from it now. not all brush guards are like this.....westin has some nice ones. but if i was gonna do it all over again....i'd go arb in a sec.

 

Then you should do it over again....but with ARB!

 

had i the coin to do so........i would. cant do it for a while tho.

 

For the money I like the brush guard. If you have the money do the full bumper.

Agree completely.Those guards in the two photos that the OP posted are for show only. They might be good enough for mall crawling.
