20170416_193119_Burst01.jpg We have 3 dogs and 6 parrots. Every couple years we have a clutch of parrots. (Usually 3 to 5) It takes all the self control I have not to keep em. They'll outlive me....25 to 30 year life span. I wont live to 91 in all likelyhood.

That's Jeni (jenday conure) and Peni (pineapple conure) watching tv with us. Both are big Metalica fans btw

Not feeling too creative today, especially after a stupendous dinner last night (fundraiser for our school at a local hipstery gourmet place).

Just throw a pork roast, some veggies, spices and a can of French onion soup into the instant pot and let er rip. Hope it turns out ok.

But I like your idea better.

Street Racing is big time up here in the High Desert and there's a lot of mid 7 sec high 8 sec cars up here looking for $$$$$ and bragging rights . Mind you I was a big time avid street racer back in the early 80's to late 90's but now I'm older I'm not into losing my license , Camaro and court costs associated with this activity

Plus a mid 10 sec car running against 7 sec car , come on now !! :facepalm:I would need at least 3-4 lengths and the hit to even have a slight and I mean slight chance to nose them out

In a way I take these Call Outs as a honor /pride and a accomplishment that these guys like and appreciate my Camaro

    Poor truck !!!!

Never left a car show without a good story. I took Pop's Bel Air to a recent show and noticed a group of people around it, all excitedly chatting and checking it out. As I approached I noticed they were deaf, and speaking in ASL. I can't speak ASL, but... I watched a lot of "Signing Times" with my kids when they were toddlers. So I can at least spell. We went on to have a conversation about the car, a very slow conversation, by spelling out every word. It was actually pretty cool; they seemed glad someone could answer all their questions.

The knuckles needed a double dose of Motrin that night though. But we did come home with "Best in Class."

Back when I was into it I felt the same way on the street.
Back then it wasn’t about putting up money etc. it was bragging rights.
I had a total of 3 races on the street, won them all.
The rest was on the track.

I raced anyone and everyone that asked.
However I wasn’t scared of their time slips.
I raced cars 3 or 4 seconds faster than me. Heads up.
I lost. Lost by a lot.
However I got a rep for being a wheel man.
The other racers would listen to me run down the track rowing gears and
Would come over and give me compliments. It’s not how fast I was. It was how I made my car fast.
One night I raced one of the fastest street cars there.
The race was not even close.
    However.
I treed him and beat him to the 60 foot.
He came over after the race and gave me a bunch of compliments while his buddies razzed the shit out of him.
He actually asked me how I could shift so fast ? You don’t lift do you ?
    Nope don’t lift.
So I gave him a few pointers and he dropped a couple of 10ths.

I’m more proud of that than winning.
I ran my car because I built it for that.
Don’t care how fast my car was or wasn’t.
    Wasn’t embarrassed.
    They called, I ran..

    They want to run you?
    Make a track day.
    Meet them there.
    Run the fuckin car.
    You win, fine.
    You lose, fine.
    No money needed.
    Real racers run for fun.
    The love of doing it.
    Run by yourself if necessary.
I don’t care if you say it’s a 10 sec car and you run 11’s
Don’t care if you say it’s a 10 sec car and you run 9’s.

You had that car built to do something.
    What? I don’t know.

But unless you do something with it besides flash the converter and bench race
You might as well sell it cause you ain’t doing the car justice.

Hell yeah. Cut my teeth racing at US 30 with my dad & uncle, but once someone introduced me to auto-x and track racing, I was all in. Same concept though - just race the car. Stock? Built? Expert? Amateur? Whatever, run what ya brung, be humble, and learn.
