In my service document they said they test drove it and "Confirmed Customers Concern". So far it seems to have worked, and because of this, I will be back for another Tacoma in 2 years and my wife a RAV4. They can't be mad about that. I also asked if it would be ok to do this.

I'll be driving in high elevations this week over 8000 ft what exactly is the troubleshooting procedure here find out if the problem exists. I'm busy with work and I don't want to bring the truck to any of the dealerships around here. I had to jump through hoops and drive out of my way snag this truck and the only dealership I want touching it is Bakersfield now.

You should experience a variety of things. For one, there is a stall like feeling if you dump the throttle. Then while accelerating through the gears it will surge at around 40 mph like you are racing the guy next to you. Almost like you hit a switch, but it was a much more tame version of nitrous. Finally, while driving up and down what are seemingly mild inclines the tranny will downshift into 4th or sometimes even 3rd and hold it even after you start to level out to the point you will have to take your foot off the pedal or manually shift it into 6th again.

There is another "rumble" issue to but I am not experiencing this so I will let those that are answer. The above are my observations.

I had both tsb's done about a month ago. Everything was fine till this week. Now the jerkiness on the highway while pulling a slight incline is back even worse than before. And it seems to be losing more power every day. Getting pretty pissed at this point. I've had the truck for 4 months and it's been in the shop twice. Second time for almost a week.

Thank you. I am older and not a mechanic so I have a hard time with all these acronyms.

It seems I’ve read that same response from other 2018 owners. Any 16-17’s have the same remissive behavior?

I've noticed some increasingly funky behavior recently with mine as well. Just feels more...lethargic. That, and when accelerating from a stop or near stop at a not quite moderate pace (ie, I'm not in a rush and no traffic coming up behind me), there are 3-4 "pauses" in acceleration up to about 30 mph. It's not a stumble; ie, it doesn't throw my head forward. It just stagnates...almost like coasting.

Maybe try disconnecting your battery for a few minutes to reset the “learned driving behavior” and see if it goes back to like it was right after the update. Go from there.

If you can I would get the Cal ID checked to see if they didnt just reflash your ECU without the new update. Just a thought.

I got TSB 58 and I'm still holding 3rd gear for like a quarter mile after cresting a hill. Whether flat at the top or even when going back downhill it will still hold 3rd and 3500rpm for a quarter mile. Really strange. It's not every time. But maybe 50% of the time.

    D-ring tie-downs.
Showed up at Preston Toyota of New Castle Service dept. on time. The rep asked me my concern. After explaining the symptoms he said there was a number of trucks that have come in for the TSB. He said none have come back and told me they would check out my truck to make sure of the issue, not something else, and go from there. Told me it would take about 45 minutes to run the program. Sure enough, in just over a half hour later the young fella looked me up and gave me a copy of their service order. TSB 0062-18 was done. No more hunting/nudging and the throttle response is better and more linear.
