so the second pic is the 6"er? I liked that one better, but don't care for all the fender flare stuff on the other. I've seen some really good 6" lifts (like the one in op) ,and some that don't look so great, so I am mixed opinion.

Yeah bro the post is old & decided to add the survey couple days ago. You're right about the basic Fabtech. I just bought the DirtLogic front & rear last week. Basic kit shocks are junk. The OME and spacers weren"t cutting it either. I'll look into the tie rod and shock bushing. 4wheelparts told me its the nuckle/spindle.
I haven't got the Recon done yet. Funny you ask cause I've been getting hassled when going on Kaneohe MCB.

Just a quick question freedomriding, but how did the toytec ultimate feel? How did it compare to stock suspension (if you even had it)?

Also, how does the fabtech compare to the toytec ride wise?

so basic 6" fabtech rode like crap? offroad, onroad or both? so you'd recommend the performance or the extrme dirt logic coilovers? that is alot more money. I wanted to keep the cost to a miinimum for mostly a street/highway driven vehicle.

Our trucks have basically the same set up! You should have no problem passing Recon. You need a set of mud flaps for the rear. I got mine from Grainger:
    http://www.grainger.com/Grainger/items/1YMN5?Pid=search

Check your lower C/O mounts. There are bushings 1 small and 1 big. They may have installed yours backwards. (That's what happened to me)
    Good Luck!

Truck looks great! If I didn't have kids, I would go with the 6" but it would be a hassle putting my 3 little ones in the back.

    Hi Toku,

I saw your thread on suspension/lift before and I have lots of questions to ask you. I am totally new to suspension lift. I have a 2005 DC 4wd and I just add in a 3in spacer kit :(...not a good choice. Whenever I go over a speed pump or so at certain speed I get a jarring action...the truck bottom out. I am thinking about getting a OEM 885 kit. What is your recommendation on it? I need your expert opinion. You can email me more pgagoal@yahoo.com

    Thank you

Well look at it this way. Your stock suspension (LCA's, UCA's) if it had 4" up travel and 4" down travel.

If you lift it 3"? Then you would end up with 7" up travel and 1" down travel. So you are almost at your suspension limit.

It may not work out as simple as that. But this gives you an idea of the limitations of the 3" lift on your stock components.

Anyone with a 3" lift who has driven over bumps at speed can attest to the suspension "bang" That is the suspension over extending. (What you discribed that you are experiencing)

For the most part it is your shocks that are over extending. You can install longer shocks.

But the problem with installing longer shock, will be at a certain point the LCA's will start to swing drastically inwards. So you can see that your STOCK suspension is already being pushed to it's operational limit.
It's sort of a trade off.

What's your plans for your truck?

If i had to do all over again i would go with the LT kit like MXpatriot has. But since with the cutting of the cross member will stick with that i have.

3 is good enough, but you seem to want to go with the 6 so just do it.

I think that the pics that you have comparing the 2 lifts are perfect. I know I have been deciding on which way to go and because of the pics, Im leaning six. Your truck looked great at 3, but looks amazing IMO at 6.

The Toytec had a great ride. I just wanted the stance and tire clearance of the 6"

No the basic lift rides ok, just the rear shocks it comes with are junk. Our stock shocks arent made for heavier rims/tires. Ride quality for me is my #1 concern. The 3" lifts are usually stiffer than stock and a 6" lift due to forcing the lower/upper control arms down. The 6" rides great. Downside is that you lose turning radius.

Lt is long travel it gives you truck a way wider stance and is really made for like desert and jumping.
