i looked up a video of the bestop on youtube and can see why now you cant/shouldnt fold the topper with the sides still attached. the plastic windows would likely get folds and creases you cant fix. i thought it folded the same way as the softopper.

i would think so, now, that the softopper storage boot is probably to big for the bestop. when you fold the bestop its essentially just the front and top part of the topper.

I know it is an old posting but I just wanted to know who made the rack over your softopper.
    Thanks!

My truck sat untouched at the dealer for two weeks and I think the sun ate my magnet strips...

I had a 3M paint protection strip along the tailgate edge and the two surfaces seem to have bonded into a mess... ugh. It worked flawlessly for about 4 months (until today)...

Anybody else have this happen or know how I can stop it from happening again? I thought there were some other folks running mag strips with 3M...

The Bestop doesn't store with the side windows but the vinyl front window is bulky when folded up. I can always store the rear window in the boot if it's loose fitting. I didn't know the softopper was so similar, plus it's got some great accessories. A part of me wants to sell the Bestop for a softopper...

Anyone install additional snaps in their topper, either Bestop or Softopper? I want to make some window shades & think snaps would be the easiest option, I'm just not sure regular clothing snaps would be strong enough to penetrate the topper material. I know the Softopper comes with snaps already sewed in, that's what my end-goal is but has anyone installed both male & female sides from scratch? :help:

Got my storage boot already and it fits great. Just wanted to say thanks for pointing me in the right direction. Also, I had a great experience with Softopper and would recommend them!

Quoted myself. I'm impatient so I stopped by the craft store & found a box of snaps & a heavy duty installer tool (like a rivet tool) for $14 out the door. Started installing the female sides tonight on the Bestop. I'm doing 1 at each corner of each window, using the excess material where the windows zip in.

Phase II is to find a few yards of thick fabric, sew the edges for a finished look, then install the male half of the snap on the corners.

Boom. Bob's yer uncle, window shades! (Not just yet, but you see the vision!)

    Tool: http://www.michaels.com/dritz-snap-...fEoEtH-t0epVntyFEztgIJ8OAorTViwRoCrW0QAvD_BwE

Bad reviews are from people that try to use the wrong size snaps in the tool. If they read the package it clearly says "size 16 only". Bad reviews are people who can't read. Don't be that person.

    This thread is about Softoppers.

    Should've gone black.

I've never liked the tan ones, but it sure looks good on that truck.

It doesn’t say Softoppers(TM) in the thread title. We’re good here.

I could give 2 shits about what brand of canvas cap is listed in this thread.

I have a Soft Topper brand on my Tundra. If a Best Top showed up used in my area that fit my Tacoma, I won't be able to buy it fast enough.

Strange, the snaps I used didn't care what the topper brand was. I guess the protectant you use on yours is incompatible with a Bestop. What about the towels to dry it, will they damage mine? Gimme a break.
