Because noticing issues with the seats can take a lot of driving the vehicle. Plus as much as I hate the seats, I love the rest of the truck. lol

I think because of the quality of our roads up here I find that OR is much nicer to drive on streets vs the stiffer damped Sport. I don't drive aggressively so the softer ride is plus for me.

Oh I just meant very basic things about the seats that you instantly notice once you sit down. I think we all can agree that the Tacoma seats could be drastically improved. :D

Having just gone through the buying process do your homework on pricing at your local dealers.

I liked the black fender flaries and OR capability of the OR (crawl, locker, etc.) but didn't NEED it as i'm a weekend warrior at best.

BUT, when doing pricing at dealer, I was able to get the same price basically but get the OR with premium/tech, not sure exactly what you lose out on in the Sport though, street suspension vs. OR and hood skewwpp? Not sure what else.

TLDR, they can be same cost, so I went with OR.

They both cost the exact same amount, test drive, test drive, test drive!

It also depends on location. Do you want it today or willing to wait for a dealer to locate a specific truck and then ship it to the dealer via dealer trade. I have 9-10 Toyota dealers within a reasonable drive. I used that to get the best price. I told one dealer why would I buy it from your dealer and have you get it from another dealer. I can just buy it from them today. I almost pulled the trigger on a silver dbcb sport but another dealer 30 Miles north of me beat that deal by $500 and it was blazing blue.

Opinions are great but none of us are making that truck payment for you. We may buy a beer but......
Enjoy the new truck. Just post a few pics when ya get it.

Welcome to the forum, in-between some static there is a wealth of information here. I chose the Off-Road as I am on dirt roads every day and prefer the ride & control due to the suspension setup. I will say the scoop on the Sport is a nice looking touch, not enough for me to spend my dollar that way.

IMHO, a Tacoma is a decent truck but there really will be no huge difference between the two. With the sport, you get a hood scoop, color keyed accents, a front air dam, and some "street friendly" (aka shittier tires). The OR, you get some more all terrain tires, black fender flares, and (maybe) a bit more of a lift. But for what these trucks can actually do, the primary difference between a sport and an OR will simply be aesthetic in nature and purely owner preference.

You will be happy with either choice for sure...they are good trucks no matter the fit and finish. If it spends a large percentage as a daily driver on pavement and you prefer the Sport’s driving characteristics...I’d go with the Sport...really are sharp looking trucks. It is plenty off road capable for what most of us like to do...the E-locker in my humble opinion is about the biggest difference that separates the off road capabilities..not the only difference, just the “biggest” difference....but learn how to left foot brake when wheeling, it’s a great skill to learn in open diff off-roading...will get you in, out or over almost anything you need without a locker . You will not make a bad choice, both are outstanding versions of a great truck .

i made a hybrid..its a sport based on VIN, but i switch to offroad flares and installed a ARB compressor and locker in the rear

even without a rear locker the traction control in these trucks does a pretty good job of getting you out of sticky situations..

Been a few days since one of these threads.

    Oh the :crapstorm:thread for Friday.

I will say for the money the OR is the better deal, but you have more electronic shit to go wrong. Sport looks better and freaking drives great. But manual for the win.

Being on TW, you will get more OR is better comments.

I didn't read any post except the first, and will now leave this brewing :crapstorm:as I can not get sucked into this today.

Wow, we sold our '09 VW Jetta and bought a '17 Sport 4x4 and our insurance (also State Farm) actually went down slightly.

Edit: We swapped primary drivers between vehicles at the same time, so that may have contributed.

The "sport" part likely has nothing to do with it. The 4x4 does. Insurance is considerably more expensive for 4x4's.

Just got mine, paying 569 a year in CT with 100/300, same price as my 2010 Wrangler I traded in.
