Absolutely worth doing. The inside of a steering rack isn't that complicated.

Although unless you're set on the machine shop project you can just buy a conversion rack from Solo and install it in an afternoon.

I am following what you’re saying. I think I was using “preload” in the wrong context and that was causing me some confusion.

I understand the point in dual spring applications, I was just failing to understand the concept on a single spring setup like our Tacos.

Fox 2.5” extended travel with Icon 13” 650lbs. Not running LT, you guys just have some good I do so I like to read.

I was having a conversation with a friend about going to a 14” spring.

Again, if you can give me a valid reason of why you say that, I may consider it.

Not a “that’s what my buddy said to do.” What is the benefit?

I will potentially have icon 14" 700# springs coming off my truck if you are at all interested.

I switched to those when I added the winch/front bumper to my truck, now going to a TC +2 kit.

I feel like a 700# will be too much with my setup right now. I have a bumper in the works, but no winch any time soon.

Fo sho, I ran it without the winch for a long while and didn't have any complaints. Just let me know if you are interested at all. It's otherwise gonna sit in the shop.

…. I basically have a full machine shop at home....1500$ for a rack from solo.....or 300$ a case of beer and some time in the shop?...ill take my chances...it seriously cant be that hard to do. either way you got to make new mounts and shorten the steering shaft a lil...soo install time is the same. the price difference is worth the try.
