It happens if I go more than a few months without one and wheeling every weekend...inevitably after romping through fire roads and crawling over rocks something is going to go slightly out of whack, I don't really mind it's just part of the game I guess.

I only had one incident bad enough to require an alignment right away and it was when I was messing with my HAM radio while going probably 35mph down a dirt road, didn't see a rut in the road from a recent rain washout and by the time I turned to try and avoid it, my tire went in and the rut pulled it the other direction. I thought for sure I fucked my spindle up but the alignment guys got it right for me and said nothing about it being bent or broken. It really 'effed up my alignment though. Got really lucky no major damage happened.

Lowering my kings in Hope's for no more cv boot screw ups.

Did 3 full turns the last time, thinking 5 turns this time.

3 turns didnt do jack, so maybe 5 this time. Not changing my CVS until I get it right

BJ spacers aren't what I'd call a compromise. BJ spacers are just straight up shit.

JBA and a few other companies make aftermarket UCAs that should address your problem. They aren't that expensive. $350 or so. The BJ spacer shit is much cheaper *for a reason*

But you say you have a hockey puck lift and the billys which should work out to about 2" of lift. What springs do you have? At 2" (a 1" spacers gives about 2" lift) that's usually not enough droop to make the spring hit.

I blew a boot and a CV which finally convinced me to lower my Kings a bit and put in a diff drop...the diff drop did next to jack squat but I finally found the sweet spot on the Kings for the right amount of lift without too harsh of CV angles. Been almost 8 month now and no leaking boots or blown axles.

That was what I noticed with mine...I've kept it on but it really did next to nothing.

There was a slight improvement on the outer boot fins but the inners were still just as bad as before and that's where my issues usually came from (until I lowered the Kings a bit more)

    You have 650lb coils?

Mine were way out of whack cause they sent me them with 600s so I had to send them back but didnt readjust for the heavier spring so I was at like 3.5" on lift

600lbs...I don't have any extra weight up front right now besides a steel skid (no bumper yet)...when I get serious about buying a bumper I'll be upgrading the coils

Does it make your CVs flat? No.

But it still lowers your diff by an inch and makes your CV angles better.

Yeah, that's too much lift even WITH a diff drop kit. 3" is about as far as you should push it. The general rule of thumb is >2" get a diff drop, >3" get a bracket lift.

I'm not sure what I'm at now...too many changes were made and I stopped comparing measurements lol. I know that I ended up lowering the front about a half an inch to where it's at now and all is well. Probably sitting at 2.5" or just under that.

Ah, I only have the bumper and winch but I'm also a 4 banger

Diff drop did nothing, I promise. If it did do anything I wouldnt have took it off.

I'm lowering them tomorrow I hope, just wish I had a base to go off of. 3 turns lowered it like half an inch it seemed like

Your best solution honestly is aftermarket UCAs. They have a slightly longer geometry that should push the top of the spindle out. Obviously you'd need to get it re-aligned, or you can try and save a hundred bucks or so and get the universally despised balljoint spacers.

Then you either put it on wrong, or the suspension/drivetrain of your 2003 is vastly different from any other 1st gen on this site.

Like I said, it doesn't make your CVs flat (unless you only lift it an inch, lol), but it 100% does improve your CV angles. It's simple geometry.

Then, according to the TW bible, book of jbrandt chapter 1, vs 2: "He that doth install the spacers of balljoints shall be ridiculed mercilessly." So sayeth the lord.
