5,000mi service increments necessary?

I'm about to hit 35,000mi and I've got no more free services.

Other than rotating the tires, is there any reason to have the truck serviced at 5,000mi increments? I get my tires rotated for free at the tire shop, so wondering if I even should bother taking the truck in or if I should just go in every 10k for my oil changes, etc.

Any thoughts on this would be much appreciated.

As long as you're keeping all the paperwork from the non-dealership maintenance visits for potential warranty issues I don't see why you can't go wherever you want.

I'm curious to know if tires can be rotated every 10,000 miles during our current oil change interval recommendation.

In the not-so-old days you could just get the tires rotated at every 5,000-7,000 mile oil change. Back then I always pushed my oil changes to closer to 7,000 mile interval even though it was usually suggested at every 5,000 miles.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that rotating tires every 10,000 miles might be OK with each 10,000 mile oil change. BUT maybe it makes sense to do it all every 7,000-8,000 miles. OR just do it all once a year and call it a day.

I'm sure there is a really bad idea embedded somewhere in my brain fart storm above. Someone will chime in on this I'm sure.

Definitely ok if your tires are 0w-20

I don't see any reason to waste time at the dealer every 5k miles. I guess if you are nervous it wouldn't hurt to have oil changes done at the dealer until the engine and powertrain warranty expire.

Personally I am going to just do the oil changes myself. Even if my engine blows up and I were to prove to Toyota that I changed my oil at the recommended interval, I am sure they would come up with a good reason not to cover it if they really wanted to.

If you are observant, you can rotate your tires whenever you want. I take mine to the dealer every 10K for oil and grease, but every few thousand miles I visually check fluid levels like oil, brake, coolant, belt, brakes and slide under the truck to make sure everything looks nominal.

Just depends on the tire and how well you maintain pressure, alignments, and balance. 5k is a good number to keep your tires wearing equally

I rotate my tires religiously at 5k miles but outside of that I don’t do any other service. I only inspect things every 10,000 miles
