Finally a fix from Toyota for Stumble condition (TSB 0062-18)

under the hood per TSB- i checked on last 2 updates before i left, there wasnt a sticker, i said where is the sticker per TSB, and they called the tech up, and the tech came out and installed the sticker both times. i had to tell them, so check before you leave dealer, its on the TSB for them to do it..

 

What's the sudden fascination with the sticker? Yes, I know it's part of the instructions for the tech to do, but why does it really matter if you get a sticker or not? (And yes, I know sticker are cool!) Your invoice/receipt should be enough proof that the update was performed.

Some have reported at least an extra 3Hp with the sticker as compared to without.

 

Ok I've driven only 20 miles since the update this afternoon and noticed a difference right away. As I was leaving the dealership I looked at the ECT button to see if it was pressed. The truck shifts at higher RPMs, similarly to how I would shift it if it were a manual transmission.

Time will tell but for now, wow! What a nice difference.

So we are picking up something to eat and just went through the whole where do you want to eat routine. I said screw it im officially HANGRY so we are eating at Zoe’s. Only to get here and they are out of what we wanted. Ugh. And my Pro wheels came in today only for SCS to say they are releasing the Rays so now I’m thinking hmmmm, do I want to sell the Pro wheels? I’ve come full circle today. LOl

 

Order those wheels, it's already a bad Friday night. Sleeping on the couch won't matter from here.

 

I stand corrected that is for the 2018 model, so no issues. 2016/17 is as I noted.

 

I'm having the clunking shifting from 2nd to 1st happening after getting TSB 58-18.

Never been more unhappy with a new vehicle. Sheesh.

 

So I went on a trip to Lake Tahoe up the Sierra mountains and experienced a stumble at wide open throttle. Pretty scary if you know the area. So I expressed this concern with my dealer and even mentioned the tsb0062-18 that specially addresses this issue. I got rejected as technician could not duplicate issue as described by customer. Well no shit we are at sea level. I even had corporate involved and still got rejected. So I emailed Jim Lentz and got a reply within a day. Now they are sending an engineer to inspect my vehicle! I hope he has time to take a trip to Lake Tahoe it’s about an 4 hour drive from Oakland. It would only take ten minutes to flash my truck. Geewhiz

Anybody in the Bay Area that had success getting this update? Please chime in I’d rather not have an engineer take up anymore of my time. This has been the 3rd time in the shop for transmission issue. It was hard enough to get them to manually check my transmission fluid. Oh btw it came up 1 quart low.

 

So this isn't a "new" engine in the 3rd gens. The engine is used in the highlander, as well (And others??).

Throttle mapping and auto transmission programming is done in every vehicle manufactured. In every engine on the market. Why are they having such a hard time getting the Tacoma right?? I don't understand it.

What is it about the 3rd gen Tacoma that's different from other vehicles? It's not even just the 16's, but it still extends to present.
