About to pull the trigger on a set of ST MAXX 285/75/17's. I have never ran a Cooper tire anyone running them can you tell me get them or stay away from them??? I like the looks and its a good tweener tire not a MT and not a normal AT looks more aggressive then a normal AT.

I loved them in 265/75/16 and there is a whole thread on this subject.

I have the same size you want, the shop told me they last for about 45k miles but we'll see. They are a pretty soft rubber. I think I'm not alone in saying that these tires pull to the right, Ive heard others say they've had them pull right even after a couple alignments

Yeah, on gravel and dirt they do their job, I'm going to be testing beach sand next week. Not much road noise either

Simple tire has them 15% off, just ordered ! I convinced myself to try the Cooper brand out myself really like the looks and seem to have good reviews except for the pulling to the right deal! Thanks for the input!

    I have the ST MAXX’s in 265/70R17.

The Good: They look great, they’re more true to size then other brands, are relatively quiet for how aggressive of a tread pattern they are and they work great off-road.

The Bad: They pull to the passenger side pretty bad! They’re very heavy and they only come in E rated at least in the size I bought.

I’m really not sure that I would buy them again. I hate the radial pull, being heavy robs power and fuel and I would have chose a different rating if given the option. I may try the BFG KO2’s next time.

Surprised no one said this....285/75r17 doesn’t exist for ST maxx. Assuming you mean aspect ratio of 70* or R16*.

    200+ pages on reviews etc

The st maxx wear crappy, cause some pull. They are crap in mud, gum up bad. Were decent in the rain, snow, dry. They were the worst tire I've ever run. Even though people on here swear by them. Now the Cooper stt pro is the best tire I have ever run. Great in all conditions, on and off road, balanced easy, tracked good. Aggressive tread and sound the same as the st maxx on road. Wear like iron off-road. These were 35s, so maybe the maxx is better in a 32/33. But I'd never run them again.

I have them in a 275/70R17 and they’re damn solid. Took a lot of weight to balance but that’s hit or miss. They ride well. Not much louder than stock wranglers. They feel firm as hell, and that’s with running mine at 27psi all around. Tire size is what’s going to be your most important factor, going only up to 275’s I lost about 2mpg on average and truck definitely feels like it’s pushing harder to spin these tires when you step on the gas. It feels about the same as when I would drive with my 700lb ATV strapped in the bed while running the factory tires. I have no regrets, tires do very well off road so far.

[IMG]Simple tire has this deal going on . I ordered a set of ST MAXX 285/75/17's from discount tire . they beat this deal and still get 10% rebate mastercard. But use i found it cheaper icon on discount tires web page.
