Or- your dealer is so honest and fair that he wants to give those who have broken fans top priority first until they have more parts for everyone else?

My December2016 build 2017 DCSB is on the list. Last recall for the rear leak my dealer sent a letter to me to bring it in. Wondering if I will get a letter this time? I am aware this is not a recall.

Just left my 2017 at dealer for supposed blower fan recall. I heard no rattling sounds, nothing abnormal, it just quit blowing. I don't feel it's the same issue, but they are claiming it fits the other complaints. Mine does NOTHING when you turn the fan speed dial. AC light/switch won't come on. Seems more like the blower switch to me. Whatever, I'll drive thier Tundra for a month or two....

It is actually. On my Toyota Owners account there is an alert and they are calling it a “safety recall” so I’m assuming they safety risk could be exposure to extreme cold or heat without air?! I’m surprised they would call it a safety recall given how those aren’t taken lightly

    - it’s a safety issue because the squirrels might get out of the broken cage, and everyone knows they eat nuts. :rimshot:

Mine is definitely broken as since last week I can hear a rattle from the glovebox when the blower is turned on/off. I am afraid to blast it past the first notch, but it's been going for over a week now and my nipples still get hard.

I just logged into Toyota Owners and there are no recalls reported; went on main Toyota page and popped my VIN in and not part of the campaign either. Would make my life so much easier when I go in for my 10K since my dealer likely isn't a fan of me...when they found a TSB for me back in June it was like they struck gold.

Have you removed the cover in the glovebox to check for any debris that may have come in through the intake? I’ve had leaves or other debris make their way in there a couple of times, making a similar noise... but replacing the fan isn’t too hard for you or the dealer so either way probably not a terrible idea

Mine did this too. When I took it in, they said there was a short in the blower motor as well as the starting of cracking around the spindle of the plastic wheel. Replaced and worked fine.

Doggman - I just found out about this through my dealer and am working through this thread. The service tech told me it's a 2 hour job for them. Hope this helps.

I've been away from Tacoma World for a while so I was surprised to hear from the dealer about this blower motor issue. I was just going to take my Taco in for routine maintenance tomorrow and "BAM" I was told about this. Not sure what to think.

Unknown lift, maybe 2" I don't know how to ID it, and would rather set it back to stock.
 Two hour job? If that's the case, they need to subcontract this to me, I'll do it in under 15 minutes and still make money. Two hours.....

Maybe that long for a dodeca-thumbed, blind thalidomide spastic.

Ok, lest I be considered cruel, insensitive or poorly informed, of which I am neither: I've done this job. I've had mine in and out twice now. Don't believe it when you're told you need a 5.5 mm (unicorn) socket to remove the 3 fasteners--just get out your 7/32", quarter-inch drive socket. Just unplug the electricals first, take out 3 screws and drop the unit down. Put in new, re-install 3 fasteners, plug in electrical, smile and go drink beer.

Maybe they were counting the time it takes to run to the store for a 5.5mm socket.

They COULD care less? That means that they could care a little bit, and therefore it better be working.

They have to also go get a little bottle of fan blade pitch too!

Toyota is only giving them 40 minutes labor for it- your service advisor or tech is out of the loop:image.jpg

Good to know this going in. I'll be there only half a day instead of all day LOL.

So based on this letter it is only Manual Climate Controls and not Automatic?

    Yes.

Though I feel pretty certain there are people out there with auto systems who have experienced this failure, no one has yet replied to this inquiry.

    Anyone? Beuhler?

That was my feeling. All the posts that I saw with failures was from folks with ACC. That's why I was a bit surprised to be on the Service Campaign.
