    Exactly. Right on.

Mounting it underneath will always bump your knee.
    Don't ask how I know.

I have it underneath on the right side and its not a bad spot. I occasionally graze it but nothing serious.

Same setup here. All too easy.

I can’t imagine a better place for the brake controller, though.

I mounted my P2 in my bookcase and ordered a P3 and ESP cubby mount. I eventually gave it away.

I have stubby legs and long body so nowhere I tried worked without hitting it with my knee due to my seat being forward. Saw the P3 mount and while I did use the cubby for my trailer keys etc it has worked the best over the options I had for the P2.

The P3 is an ungrade over the P2 and had some features I liked like saved settings for my 2 trailers. I can see the display perfectly while driving or applying the brakes.

Not the perfect answer to your P2 question but it is the answer I came to with my P2. Glad I made the upgrade.

Mounted my P2 is the same spot as in the 2nd Gen. it’s out of the way, within reach, and I don’t hit it getting in/out. Works for me.

Just a note to people considering this - There’s a knee airbag cover on the dash in the lower right side of the steering wheel - if someone isnt careful about it, they could have an issue sticking or screwing things onto it.

    Hey Steve,

I put my P2 in rhe cubby to the left of the steering wheel and put the wires through the back - just be careful drilling the hole because theres a wire harness not to far behind it. If you decide later to cover the hole, a piece of plastic will totally cover it. The P2 has a accelerometer sensor built in, so you have to be sure its snug and cant move or it will think you are moving and will affect the braking signal. Use foam or other packing material to wedge it into the cubby.

Also, does your P2 harness adapter have a ground wire on it? I think the upgraded harnesses have them due to a safety recall - some of the old ones were melting due to not having a good ground.

No drain- they turn off in a couple minutes. I leave mine in all the time.

Just curious how does that panel drop down? Just un snaps? I tried pulling somewhat gentle and it didn’t seem to give. Didn’t want to break it

You mean the cubby panel? It has clips in back, but I gave up and drilled the hole in the back part without removing the panel using a paddle bit and just didnt let it pop through when finished drilling the hole. The bit has to be wide enough to let the connector go through the hole.
