5100s at 2.5" with 255/85/16

    just a couple comfort items.
    If your stock wheels are 16s they will fit. As for trimming yes you will need to lose the mud flaps, beat the pinch weld down and do some trimming at the rear of the wheel well . Depending on how hard you use you truck you may want to extend your bumpstop a little. I found my tires were into the top of the wells on a good bottom out.

    Those look great and will most likely be my next tire. I have a few questions if you don't mind. Are you running stock gears? How is it around town? A less common question, how was braking affected? I've heard from guys running 285's that their braking suffered and was curious if that had more to do with the weight or the diameter.

    In addition to Jason's questions above:

    1. How much lift do you have total? Just the 2.5" OME lift with No extra spacers?

    I currently have the 2.5" OME with heavy coils and rear Dakar on 265's. I want to up grade to either 255 or 285. I'm concerned that I will bottom out to fast/frequent with the 255's. I'm going to add new UCAs remove the flaps and do the pinch weld mod with the BFH in addition to chopping the frame mounts.

    2. Any regrets on not going with the 285's?

    Thanks for the great posts/info.

    I'm off to research "bump stops."

    You don't need new uca's for 255's It's the width of the 285's that makes the need for some change. You shouldn't have to cut the body mount either just trim the flaps with 255's.
