Platinum and 1794 are around 60k MSRP in Canada where Denail is over 70k. I looked on Toyota.ca and they have a $6,000 incentive from factory right now, adding the 3-4K dealer discount you're at close to $10,000 off if you are paying cash.

You can either have 2.49% financing or $6K off. Not both. Rarely do people pay cash for a $60K truck without pulling the cash out of some sort of debt. If you take the $6K you are stuck with bank financing which will be at least 4.9% with the way things are right now. $4k off from the dealer would be very high, possible though depending on how you did the calculation on the tax savings and other charges the dealer might be flexible on like warranties.

F150 Platnium is $15,500 off right now with with a Platnium starting at $58K and, yeah, a dealer would still have the ability to move about another $4-5K on that truck beyond that. So yeah domestics are always generally cheaper since the deals almost always overlap between manufacturers. GM is probably running a similar deal. I know last month is was 20% off Silverado’s in Canada and 15% off Colorado’s.

Of course I’d step back to my point that for some the value of the badge is worth it and that’s perfectly fine.

Ford is running employee pricing right now. You can't get an additional 4-5k off the truck unless you work for the dealer. Most will not move any more than what the employee price shows, some will dip into the holdback which is 2% if they really want the sale. With the $15,500 off your rate is 4.49% (since you quoted the 2.49%, 84 month of Tundra). Ford plays the same game with finance as Toyota. The best time to buy an F-150 if you're leasing or financing one isn't really employee pricing. I have an April quote from them for a Lariat 502, 2.7 that's much lower than what I can get today. That's because Ford will do 0% finance and 0.49% lease outside of employee pricing and still do 12-13k off the higher end trims.

The point is all manufacturers play these games. You can get close to 10k off the Tundra and pay cash, or ~ 5k off (1k factory) and get 0% lease for 4 years. Ford lease for 4 years right now is 4.49%.

Tundras depreciate slowly. I wouldn't own a Ford personally. I did but their stock when it was $1.70 a share since they were one of the few that didn't take TARP money. As a Toyota owner its better that more people buy the Ford. I don't dislike the company or the vehicles I just wouldn't buy one.

It’s all a game for sure. Like I said in other posts, most of the time the average cost on the Tundra to a consumer is higher than a domestic truck of similar trim but at the edges of these deals there will obviously be some times when the Tundra may be cheaper. Ford sometimes runs 0% for the last week of employee pricing. I got a similar deal, 0.49% plus 11ishk off a XLT 302A, on my wife’s 2015 F150 in a spring sale which is why we didn’t get bent over we she wanted to down size last year to a CUV.

Also on a fleet sheet a Tundra is very expensive which I always found weird since the leases should be cheaper based on residuals. I’ll try to post my invoice when my new F150 comes in. It’s in transit right now. On my last truck it showed up on my end in the system but with the changes Wheels is going through online I’m not sure if it still will.

I just traded in my Tacoma for a new Tundra last month. Absolutely loving it.

Mileage isn't too shabby either. This was a long trip and I was really driving like a grandpa, feathering the gas, but I'm quite happy with it.

I did the same two weeks ago. I traded my Taco for a 1794 edition. The deal they offered me was superb, a combination of huge discounts (only for 2018 models currently available in lot), an excellent trade-in value for the taco and finance. Also I got a free changes oil for life as long as I own the truck (this was a current dealer offer). Same color than yours. Nice trucks either way the Taco or Tundra, but I liked the backspace of the crew max, and the V8 with the auto transmission is superb. I loved the taco too, but with my current activities the Tundra suits better. There are things that I like in one that the other doesn’t have (and viceverse), so at the end is a trade off about what’s matter more to each one.

I kept the taco and added a crewmax tundra. I like them both. Tundra is a beast for towing. Mileage is about the same.

Man! That’s ideal, but I don’t have space for two trucks... (hope to keep the Tundra and probably -dreaming- to add a 911 Porsche w/manual tranny for weekends...)

Not a Tundra lol, but I figured I talked about my new Ford coming in so I might as well show it. This is my work truck. The Tacoma is my Toy...yota ;). I wasn’t able to grab the invoice since it’s not available on my side of the company portal but the sticker was 57k CAD and it’s starting depreciation at 47k CAD so... that’s what it was worth. I like the new 10 speed, it’s really smooth in normal operation and hits the right gears to get going in Sport mode.

Two different tools, but I'd simply love to be able to afford both. Just can't swing it, AND it and drive late model trucks..

I wa getting 17 mpg mixed in the Taco. I’ve got 15.9 mixed for the first 2,000 Miles in my Tundra. 1 mpg doesn’t mean a hill of beans to me. Completely happy with the Tundra so far. Even got it to fit in the garage.

I do agree the Tundra could use more gears.

When towing, 4th is too low and 5 is too high.

5 is a very good choice if you go 75 mph. I really don't like go that fast when towing 8000+ lbs.
