    Welcome!!!!

A few of us are heading to KY for a few days a couple weekends from now to do the KAT. Will be mild for the most part wheeling wise, but with opportunities to play harder for those that want to. Mostly a travel / camping trip. It is not an official TW meet, but several TW folks are coming.

Looks better already!! Why Toyota did silver instead of black on the F/R bumper skins is beyond me.

Should of been a black valence in the first place. Now I need the T4R pro grill... that’ll be down the road after I get this toytec and tire purchase in the next couple of paychecks.

Stupid holes behind it like Ken said. I painted my front and rear valences immediately. I went gunmetal though because I liked the look on silver.

    His is an SR5.

Give Ken the referral, I'd have to hunt for something to purchase, so I'd probably never use it.

    Welding questions:

I have some 1/8 x 1 flat bar that I want to weld onto a thinner sheet with a few short stitches to reinforce the sheet.
The sheet is painted so I'll sand weld areas. That's easy enough.

The bar has a zinc layer though. When I grind the bevel for my weld joints, is that good enough or should I try to get the coating off more out into heat affected areas too?

    And don't breathe it, right?

Should I clamp a piece of scrap on the back of the thin metal behind welds to reduce chance of burning through?

Nope. Might hide them from myself inside an empty pack of tuna and stuff them in my air compressor compartment, but definitely won’t lose them.

Grind the heat affected zone to reduce the smoke the zinc will cause while welding. Definitely try to hold your breathe when you weld it also drink a glass of milk before you weld. It's an old school trick to help stomach issues after welding on a lot of zinc.

Even if you clamp scrap on the back of it if you burn through then you just welded the thin piece of metal to the scrap piece. Best bet is to weld it as cold as possible (would also be good with the smallest wire you have on hand). Also skip around and don't get in a hurry when welding it or it will warp.

This! I gave myself zinc poisining welding through my high zinc primer on my truck (go figure). Good thing I was a safety guy LOL! Get a fan downstream of the weld as well to suck the fumes away if you are flux coreing it. The milk helps if you feel lethargic and queezy the next day.
