Alright, so, I was out camping/wheeling and got myself in a bit of a pickle. Got stuck in some very deep water and had to get winched out the next morning. In the process I blew my PS rack and acquired some nice dents. Since then, a generous donor (doing an SAS) gave me his rack and thats all dealt with.

To the matter at hand - my check engine light was on and until I checked the codes assumed it was from the P/S mishap, but I checked the codes and got the two aforementioned (P2197 & P0158). Codes read that the A/F (bank 2) is stuck lean and that the O2 (bank 2 as well) is high voltage (which I understand to mean rich).

With that knowledge I would assume that the A/F sensor is bad (from the water) and that the computer is trying to correct the issue, and in so, the O2 sensor is rightly sending an error code from the stupid A/F ratio. Is that a reasonable assumption?

Another thing I'm noticing is the engine is louder than usual. I know that's vague but its really hard to specify exactly what it is. Not knocking or whining or anything, just louder. Maybe a little whinier (it is most certainly not the PS pump), but not significantly whiny. I initially thought it was the idle pulley bearing, but now I am wondering if the out of whack a/f ratio is causing it to run poorly and, i guess, louder?

Hoping someone may have had a similar situation? (not that I hope someone had to spend a bunch of time and money fixing sh*t..) Thanks for reading guys and gals.

Have you checked for exhaust leaks?

Yes my system is sealed. Had a cat back system installed 2 years ago. Everything from headers back is good.

Sounds like you need to replace a/f sensors and o2 sensors

Did you ever resolve this issue? I went through a deep puddle and sucked water into the intake, and can't seem to shake the P2197 code now. I replaced the MAF sensor and that didn't fix it.

Check the oxygen sensor connectors for corrosion inside on the pins. Look for torn wiring

Just curious if changing the upstream O2 sensor fixed your issue? I have an 06 4.0 with the same code. I replaced the downstream sensor but the CEL came back with the P2197 code. Don't see any obvious vacuum or exhaust leaks and the MAF is clean. The upstream sensor looks like it might be a pain to get to.
