hello there, need some help. Just got some used plastic fender flares ( black ) and have some road rash and marks NOT fingernail deep and looking for advise as to what I need to clean them up. What is safe to try to take any scuffs off and clean to see what I’m working with? Alcohol or goo gone any recommendations would be greatly appreciated

Things like mineral spirits and goo gone will take off road tar, tree sap, maybe road line paint etc. They will not remove scratches, or “scuffs”.

Will any of that take the clear or factory paint off?

These are “plastic” fender flares? Flat black? Generally, they are not painted or coated. Try it first in a small inconspicuous spot. Again, generally, no damage, mineral spirits is fairly benign. You can also try some commercial plastic/trim restorer, your local auto shop will stock it.

If they are bright/shiny, then treat it like auto paint.

You really can’t remove scuffs from platic, other than sanding them off but not sure if that’s worth the risk.

If you mean they are paint matched black then youcan take a machine to them just like any other part of the truck to polish em up.
