    Ones very upset about his toy being broke.

    The other one is just now seeing the toy became a stick.

    One of the selling points of a Siberian is that their fur is hypoallergenic; she does shed twice a year. When I empty the vacuum cleaner, it looks like I am pouring out a wig.

    For sure. Mine used to shower with me almost every morning. Usually he'd hang out between the shower curtains and stick his head in (which got soaked) to lick the water off of the walls, or occasionally my leg. Then as soon as I shut the water off he'd hop in and watch it go down the drain and lick up all of the random drops that he could reach. Every so often he'd jump in before I shut it down, but usually decided he'd made a mistake and would hop back out.

    We got Henry's full lab results back earlier this week and had a chance to talk to the cardiologist. All of his metabolic values, and particularly his kidney function have returned to normal. He might have a heart problem, but he's still young. He also perked up again for a few days and is still doing okay with his breathing - low respiratory rate at rest - so we're leaving everything as-is for now. He even jumped his brother the other day and play-wrestled with him a little bit until he got tired. I think Arthur was surprised but pleased by this. If Henry has several bad days in a row and/or his breathing rate goes up we have to add more Lasix in the middle of the day and then take him in a week later for another x-ray to see if it's helping. We're hoping that this doesn't happen as it would add a third medication time each day and he really gets stressed out going to the vet. Anyway, it looks like he's just going to have good days and bad days. Here's a picture of a good one. The vet gave us the okay to give him catnip, so it was a big party. He hit it pretty hard, spaced out in the cat tree a bit, then went to sleep in the sun. Definitely a good day.

    Man so happy to hear the good news! Sure hope he continues to show signs of improvement and he has many more good days than bad ones. You guys sound like great kitty parents and any cat that lives under your roof should consider itself lucky. And then from the cats perspective, you should consider yourself lucky that it’s gracing you with its presence.

    Thank you very much for the kind words. It makes me realize that we're not the only ones who care this much for our animals, cats or otherwise, and that always helps.
    If we get anything positive out of this, it's my hope that Henry's story will help you guys should your kitty get sick out of the blue. Our vet has always told us - and we can testify that it's true - that cats hide illness and pain better that most animals. If your gut tells you that something is wrong, it probably is and you should take them to the vet as soon as possible. Cats only start showing symptoms when things are really bad, and they can suffer irreversible but avoidable organ damage by waiting - heart and kidneys in particular. Had my wife not noticed him acting just a little funny the night before, we wouldn't have been watching him so close the next morning and the little guy would have died before lunch. I know Henry is still on borrowed time, but that's just his condition. You might catch a reversible situation that could be the difference between a short life on meds or a long life like nothing even happened. Please don't wait to see if they will walk it off. If they are showing symptoms, they've already tried.

    Henry in the sun after his catnip binge...

    I hear ya for sure. We have spent a fortune on our kitties and would go broke if it meant getting them well- even if it is short lived. We just got done with a huge ordeal with our cat Suki- spent about $2500 and canceled a vacation. I’m just thankful she came out of it ok. Got a huge amount of support from the cat loving Tacoma world community. Very thankful to say the least. Most have seen this pic sorry for the repost.

    Couldn’t agree more. We have chosen to bring these little guys and gals into our world and in my opinion we owe it to them and ourselves to take as good of care of them as we possibly can. Nothing infuriates me more than to see any animal being abused/neglected.
    I’ve said it before but I’ll say it again - thank you to those on this thread that take such good care of their pets and thank you to those that have rescued or taken in strays.

    Which reminds me
    @AugustaTaco

    This is how my cat likes to sleep. Also sleeps with me in the hammock. She actually gets angry if I don’t let her in with me.
