Hey guys, my wife and I just moved from Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. to Boulder, Colorado. My Taco is a 4x4 but never used off road. Florida is nothing but swamp and flatland. But now that we are here, where is a good place to learn how to properly off-road. Thanks

Start by doing research. When I was new I just watched a whole bunch of videos on youtube, mostly about recovery techniques. Also talk to your local TW members and see if they'll take you out and show you around.

I recommend going out and seeing what your stock truck is capable of, and then upgrade accordingly. Don't let anyone tell you that you need loads of money put into your truck to get out and hit the dirt.

Colorado also has a great offroad volunteer recovery group-if you ever need it. The Colorado thread here on TW can hook you up with how to contact them. Have fun, be safe, and welcome!

Oh yeah, don’t be too worried when you see white stuff all over the roads in a couple months, but be careful, it”s quite slippery and very easy to get passed by your rear end if you brake, turn or accelerate too hard! :)

Moved to Littleton last yr and started lurking around the Colorado bs thread and upcoming events thread for Co. Lots of very well thought out builds and very skilled friendly people. I'm running a close to stock regular cab and tag along with these monster 35" tire, steel armored machines. Lots of positive reinforcement and no pressure to push on if ur not feeling it. Just to give you and idea i ran Hackett gulch my first outing with the TW guys and I made it out without a scratch. Trail is rated moderate/hard depending on what site you go to.

Best way to learn is to get out and do it. If you can get some local off road guys to show you around and teach you some things that'd be even better, it's all about learning technique.
