How did you guys remove your bedside sticker residue?

Pulled my trd stickers off and the residue will NOT come off. Ive tried Goof Off, WD40, Clay bar, and Acetone. Nothing even makes a dent in the stuff. Even the pressure washer wont touch it. Any advice?

 

Is it still tacky, or is it hardened?

I used a heat gun and pulled the sticker and glue off at the same time. You might try and heat it a little and see if it loosens it at all.

 

Mother fucking acetone. That shit will get anything off. And I'm not kidding either. I've used it on my trucks paint quite a bit and I just follow up with some wax and have no issues.

 

Hardened, i used a heat gun to remove the sticker and i have also used it to try and heat the residue up then used a microfiber rag with acetone and rubbed till my arm fell off. Still nothing this stuff has had 11 years to prepare for this battle

 

I did the same and ended up borrowing a 3m pencil eraser bit you put in a drill.

If acetone didn't work, you'll need some cutting compound, like what's used to detail cars, and the appropriate pad. Even better if you have a power buffer. That's what I used to removed all the worked in 13 year old shit from removing my flares. It also removed the residue from my old window visors

 

You probably can try some Denatured alcohol, Great for glue removal without damage to paint …
I use it a lot for my business as for PDR tabs when using hot glue, removal of stickers ect, its not as hot like thinner is which cause glue to get smeary …

Clay Magic. Even used it on my Undercover bed cover and bull bar and nurf bars to restore finish. Clay Magic and elbow grease will get anything off from tar to paint over spray to cresote. will help with light scratches in paint too. Doesn't hurt the finish on the paint at all, it polishes it. Nothing better!

You put acetone, finger nail polish remover, on your paint?!?!?!?

 

I had to take mine to my cousin who details cars .He used a bunch of different things , buffed , buffed and more buffing . He originally thought it may have been clear coated over but he finally got both sides looking great . I could have never gotten everything off.

Another idea... Every Time I get my truck inspected I have to remove and retint the windows on my truck. To get the tint glue off (which is waaaay worse than the glue on the stickers) I use a steamer. Comes off like butter, no effert at all! Maybe try steam?

 

You have to remove your tint? That is insane....never have heard of any inspection being that picky!

 

Agree with those who recommended the eraser wheel. I have used numerous times to remove adhesive when debadging over the years with great success. It takes a lot of labor out of the process.Then finish the area with polishing compound.

Lots of good advice so far.

I went went with: same direction buffing with ample detail spray, and some wd-40 (spray on the residue, wipe the excess drops, wait a few minutes then apply small amount of pressure with microfiber towel).

 

I know you said you tried Goof Off, but have you tried the aerosol "professional strength" version? I find it to be much better than the regular stuff. Good luck.

 

Yah, it sucks, used to be so lax here, for an extra $10 some places would just sell you a sticker, go home and install yourself. They cracked down in the early 2000's. Doesn't really bother me too much anymore, I got it down to a science, with precut tint, It takes me about 15 minutes a window. No biggy.
