I don’t use nearly enough of those things, so I ran to Lucky’s to buy some in smaller quantities.

Your Kid has an X-Terra right?

I found an X-Terra SE at the pick-n-pull and kept the badging.

All gravy. My used to be daily grind would be wheat bread w/ eggs and spam for breakfast. When I was penny pinching.

    Ok, i'm in! :tinfoilhat:

Not all of us can afford those Prinsu racks so we make do with what we have. Being a shortbed, and having a damn basket on the roof (but never really using it), I've always wanted to utilize some of that space. So, why not pick up one of those weatherproof rifle cases and bolt it to the basket :smack:?

Started off with ordering two of these:

    https://www.teksupply.com/contracto...building_flooring_mats_1;pgha2215_HA2217.html

    121.jpg

    and one of these:

    http://a.co/d/7ri6K1f

    21`2.jpg

Added in some zip ties for the flooring and some 2 inch u bolts (to secure the case to the flooring) and this was the result --

    IMG_20180901_211656.jpg

    IMG_20180901_112819.jpg

Also took the time to re-do the mounts for the basket to the roof tracks. Replaced the cheesy yakima bolts with better hardware.

    IMG_20180901_211744.jpg

For a old school Yakima basket, I'm happy with the results. Have freed up some of the space in the bed (completely eliminated 1 storage bin which had ratchet straps, air compressor, minor tool kit, light sticks/spare batt. op. lights, extra first aid kit and a few other small items). Still quite a bit of room up there on the other side of the basket.

Still on the project list - :lalala:

    1. AALs - install since they are sitting in the garage waiting to go on truck
    2. plugs and wires
    3. transmission cooler (also sitting waiting to be installed)
    3. re-finish 4Runner wheels/order new rubber
    4. get rid of the chrome on the bumpers front and back
    5. Fishing rod storage pod

Probably going to take 6 weeks before I even get to the AAL's lol

That whole center is so damn ghetto. better take a sidearm with you. substation is right there and instead of patrolling the city there are 3 or more cars always parked out front with a closed sign on the door. on the upside, at least starbucks did away with all the ashtrays on their tables.

HAHAHA! do you have tracks already on the cap? you can find a basket fairly cheap on CL.

Oh and for the record, no worries - leave the seats AND the steering wheel and the basket is yours, hell - I'll even install it for you and toss in x2 jetstream crossbars
